"I'm so thirsty..." You hissed, clutching your throat. You clenched your teeth as you tried to focus on something, anything other than the scalding pain in your esophagus. It's never been this intense, not since you were first turned. Jasper bent down to your level and cradled your face in his hands.
"Are you alright?" He asked, rubbing his thumbs on your cheeks.
"I need to feed...badly." You sighed.
You've not felt like yourself in 3 days. Not since the first night you both stayed in your new home. Not since the night of the comet. Jasper studied your face, particularly your eyes. Concern slowly creeped across his face the longer he looked.
"What is it?..." You Asked, Standing abruptly to go look in the large oval mirror that hung by the bed.
You gasped as you noticed a bright orange and red color bled from your pupil into your honey colored iris's, almost like spider legs.
"Oh my god..." you whispered to yourself.
"I've never seen anything like that before." Said Jasper, placing his hands on your shoulders, behind you.
"Let's go show Carlisle." He whispered, pressing his lips, lovingly to your hair.
"I will...but, first, I have to hunt. I can't stand it."
You hissed, quickly making your way down the stairs.
Jasper followed close behind, as you took off into the dense forest.
It didn't take long for Jasper to catch up with you, and about 5 miles out you began to feel fatigued. Suddenly, You stumbled and leaned against a tree, you felt dizzy as the forrest floor began to spin under your feet.
"Nolana!" Called Jasper, as he held you upright.
"Somethings wrong... we have to get you back to Carlisle." He demanded.
Just then, you sensed the presence of a deer close by. A large one. You took a deep breath and focused your energy into concealing yourself. You slipped away from Jasper, the overwhelming thirst compelling you to continue the hunt even though you knew something was off with you. The closer you came to your prey, the thirstier you felt, strangely though, your stomach began to turn with the scent of wet fur and the strong, gamey essence that comes with hunting animals.
Once you had the deer in your sights, you pounced, sending the large 8 point stag to the ground. You struggled to overpower it, you felt weaker than usual, and the animal almost fought its way out of your arms. Finally, you were able to position it just right, and plunged your teeth into its neck. Jasper watched from afar, watching you desperately drink the hot, thick, pulsing liquid from the carcass.
"Slow down, darlin. Nobody's going to take it from you." He chuckled.
As you sucked the life giving nectar down your throat, you finally felt the relief you've been seeking. You sat up, resting on your knees, pausing for a moment to let the contents rest in your stomach.
"Feeling better now?" Asked Jasper, ask he kneeled down beside you, gently rubbing your back with his hand.
Your stomach began to ache.
"Actually, I-"
You couldn't get the words out, you stood abruptly and stumbled to the nearest tree. Your stomach felt heavy, and an unfamiliar feeling overwhelmed you.
You doubled over in pain and began to expel every ounce of blood from your body.
"Nolana!!" Exclaimed Jasper, running to you.
It wouldn't stop, quarts upon quarts of blood poured from your mouth and nose.
You could feel your legs weaken with every heave, you began to fall forward as the ground began to spin violently. You could feel the darkness creep up on you, and the fact that you couldn't stop it frightened you.
"J-Jasp-"
He caught you as you fell, cradling you in his arms close to his chest.
"You're going to be alright...you're alright." He whispered, running through the forest back to the Cullen's main house.
"CARLISLE!" He yelled, running up the steps into the house.
"What's Happened?!" Gasped Esme, meeting him at the door.
Jasper didn't answer, he ran up the stairs into Carlisle's office.
Just as he laid you down on the small red couch, Carlisle, Esme, Edward, and Rosalie burst through the door.
"What happened?!" Asked Carlisle in a stern calm voice.
"I don't know, she just collapsed!"
"That's impossible, our kind don't just collapse." Said Edward.
"S-She said she was thirsty, she took off to hunt. Seemed weak, fatigued. She threw up as soon as she fed!"
Stammered Jasper, trying to remember as many details as he could.
Carlisle examined your eyes with a small light he kept in his pocket, seeing the orange/red discoloration in your eyes.
"Hmm...that's odd." He said to himself.
"What?! What's odd!?"
"Jasper, I need you and everyone to leave the room."
"I'm not leaving her!"
"Now. Jasper."
Jasper hesitated, but Edward calmly places his hand on his shoulder.
"Come on, man..." he whispered, empathetically.
Jasper knelt down beside you and kissed you on the forehead.
"You're going to be alright. I'll be right outside this door, baby." He whispers, kissing you again before following Edward and the rest of the Cullen's out of the room. Hoping Carlisle will find the answer to your strange ailments.
