Part-32

The night was still, there wasn't a single cloud in the sky. You grabbed the quilt from your bed and laid it on the balcony. The stars seemed much brighter out here, you reached your hand out, as if you could somehow catch the tiny twinkling lights. You looked out at the moon as it peeked over the dense trees surrounding your house. It's full tonight.
You could hear Jasper's gentle footfalls as he made his way up the stairs into the loft. You smiled to yourself, soaking in the silence and wanting to share it with him.
"The moon is so beautiful tonight."
"It is isn't it..." you replied softly, pulling your knees to your chest as you looked on, watching it rise higher and higher into the sky. Jasper sat on the quilt behind you and pulled you onto his lap, holding you close with his strong, marble arms.
"I can't believe it." He sighed, nuzzling his nose into your hair.
"Can't believe what my love?"
"How happy I am....I didn't know I could ever feel this way."
You smiled and leaned back, resting your head on his chest.
You grabbed his hand and brought it to your lips, giving it two small pecks before putting it back around your stomach.
"I'm happy too..."
you both sat there, holding each other, just being content in existing and watching the sky.
"We'll be like this forever, you know." He said thoughtfully.
"No more pain, no more running...our lives are beginning again."
He gently moved you from his lap and maneuvered himself sitting on his knee's in front of you.
"Nolana, When I lost you all those years ago, I never felt like I belonged anywhere. I didn't live, I existed. I haunted this earth with a huge part of myself missing. Without you I never felt truly whole. The only thing I had were my memories of you. All of my memories kept you near, and in silent moments I imagined you being here.
You coming back into my life was the absolute best thing that could've ever happened to me. You're my other half, my soul mate. I know that technically we're still married...but." He reaches into his back pocket, and pulls out a small navy blue box.
"Nolana Mae Whitlock, would you do me the honor of Marrying me, again?"
He opens the box to reveal a stunning diamond ring, accented with small sapphires along the golden band. You're speechless, unable to make a sound.
You clasp your hands over your mouth as tears of joy begin streaming down your cheeks. You nod eagerly and throw yourself into his arms.
"Yes! A million times, Yes!!"
He lifts you up and spins you, reminding you of the first time you accepted his proposal all those years ago.
He sets you down and places the ring on your finger, before kissing you passionately.
In the midst of your celebration you see something in your peripheral vision, something red, something glowing.
You pull away from Jasper, and watch as the mysterious light glides across the sky.
Jasper follows your gaze, finally noticing it too.
"Ah. A comet?..."
"A comet?" You ask.
"Yeah, see? It has a tail....huh...I've never seen one like that before.."
"It's beautiful..." you say, admiring the beautiful bright red object gliding through the sky, heading behind the moon.
"It's a special night...let's not waste it."
Whispered Jasper as his lips skim against your neck.
