Danny stood still with her eyes wide and mind blank as she saw her boss on the floor soaked in the blood puddle.
The blood on the floor was starting to get dried up and started to give out a gut puking stink.

Her body and mind were not in her control as she started to take a step forward. She was so disoriented that she couldn't even move forward after that one step.

The only sound she could hear was of her shallow breathing and the chilly, gusty wind.

Suddenly there came a loud sound from the outside that startled Danny out of her shocked state and then the lights went out. This made her look away from the body and see around the house. Silent tears started to flow down her face.

She couldn't comprehend as to what to do. She then fell onto the floor, sobbing.  Her breaths became ragged and her body became chilly.

After what felt like an eternity, she was back to her conscious and senses.
She got up from her spot and screamed all the while crying and ran all the way outside to the front of the house for help.

There was no one in the surroundings.

Shit, shit, shit!

She cried out loud and yelled again but to no avail. So she sprinted inside in search of her purse.

She reached for her purse with shaky hands and as she saw the dead body in front of her again. She hastily reached for her phone and dialled 911 as her fingers trembled.

"Hello, you've reached 911. What's your emergency?" The man on the other line spoke up.

"He...he..s...de..ad.." Danny couldn't even form a word as she wailed.

"Sorry, ma'am I didn't quite catch you! Could you please repeat that?" The man inquired.

"He...he...is dead." She tried to form her words, "There is..there is blood." She managed to say.

"Okay, ma'am. Please calm down. Could you give us your address, please?"

She choked out the address in a blur.

She felt suffocated.

When the police and the paramedics rushed into the house, Danny just stood still like a ghost, whitened as she stared ahead at nothing. She was so pale.

The sirens of the ambulance and the police suddenly brought back many scary memories of her past and she began to shake, uncontrollably.

Danny's heart started thumping. She could hear her blood passing through the veins in her ears. Her hands started to tremble and her vision became blurry as she looked down at the lifeless body of her boss on the ground.

Suddenly, she was hot and sweaty, leaving her unsteady on her feet. Her heart seemed to pound even faster, even harder. Her palms felt clammy.

Danny tried to take a deep breath to calm herself, but her breaths became sharp and shallow. Her vision got darker and narrower.

She could faintly hear someone shaking her and saying things to her but she was not in a state to interpret anything.

She then sank slowly to the ground and passed out as though the life had been drained right out of her.

                           * * * * *

Danny tried to open her eyes. Her head was hurting badly and she could hear some commotion around her.

She slowly opened her eyes but shut them again when bright white lights glared at her. She opened them again and tried to adjust herself to the bright light and stared at the white walls in front of her.
