Damien quickly got into his car and drove towards the 69th Avenue.

His heart was pounding fast. He was excited. It had been a while since he felt this rush. It had been too long since he felt this kind of thrill.

He wondered what Paul could've found in William's house that it was so urgent.

As far as he heard and knew, Brown was a man who lived a perfectly peaceful life. He was rich and alone but he was generous and kind. Not too many people had that kind of things mixed together these days.

He was indeed surprised when he heard that the man was murdered.

What could've happened that led to this?
Who would've been so vengeful to kill him?
Maybe it could be a rival company.
He pondered.

Damien stepped on the accelerator and sped his car. It was morning already. He had been working a lot of night shifts lately. He at any cost had to get done with the paperwork that had piled up. It was making him go crazy.

Also, he had to get away from his family. He loved them but sometimes they were a bit too much to handle. And after what had happened, they were all walking on eggshells around him. It only made him more annoyed if not anything else. He told them he was fine but still, they reacted overly.

Suddenly, his mind flew back to Danny.

Danica Evans.

He never heard a name like that. It was new to him and bold, quite the opposite of what the girl looked like, he thought.

Or maybe she was bold. He didn't want to judge.

Of course, he remembered her from the grocery store. She was clumsy and that thought brought on a little smile on his face. The way she rambled and tried to flirt with him was totally amusing.
And her crazy antics when she tried to stalk him. She was really bad at it and tried to cover it up with dumb statements.

There was something about her that made him remember her face.

When he looked at the billing counter and caught her staring at him, he had found it fascinating all over again. Especially when she became all fidgety and flushed again when she noticed him watching her.

He hadn't thought he would meet her again. At least not like this. Her tear-filled face flashed through his mind and he felt bad for her. The thing that confused him was her relationship with her boss. Though she told him he was her mother's friend, something wasn't sitting well with him.
He thought to dig deeper and find out about it. He definitely didn't want to take any chances this time and make his mind cloud with judgement.

He finally reached the house and parked his car behind some other cars already there. He got out and made his way towards the house.
The house was secured with yellow barrier tapes to keep the people away from the hazard.

He was surprised to see that there were no media around yet. The media usually would have gotten the news and would've made a bigger mess of everything.

That's a first. Nice.

As he entered the living room, he took careful steps so as to not step on anything. The blood was still there and nothing had been moved from the crime scene. There were some glass pieces and other vases that were knocked down and broken but other than that, everything seemed untouched.
Some people were taking photographs of the crime scene. As he moved further, Paul came into view and greeted him.

"Yo! You for sure are gonna have a ball." He told him excitedly, "Maybe you're even gonna be proud of me for the first time in your life."

"Shut up. What did you find?" Damien rolled his eyes and asked as he rubbed his hands together in passion.
