"Do you know what Brian is? Brian's a little bitch. All he's been doing is cheating on me." Becca whined and slumped down in her office chair.

Danny closed her eyes, as she tried to ease herself down. She had a lot of things running on her mind. She had just run away from home, away from her stepfather and had nowhere to go. She even spent a night in her car! She felt hopeless and helpless.

You are helpless!
You have nowhere to go.

'Not now.' Danny warned her conscience and felt crazy that she was talking to herself.

Deep down, Danny thought she took the decision of leaving home in haste. But it was for good. She didn't want any sort of connection with her stepdad and his bullshit. She had enough shit to last her a lifetime.

So what if she had left her home? It's not like her life was ending.

No big deal.

'Yeah, sure.' Her inner voice mocked her again.

To top everything, Becca's tantrums were not making it easy for her. This was seriously becoming a problem. Becca swore that she would break up with her ass of a boyfriend. It looked like she most definitely did not.

"Becca," Danny mumbled as she leaned further back in her chair, "For the last time, end things with that man already! You've gotten hurt enough."

"I'm trying, okay?" Becca said as she held her head down.

"Are you though?" She asked seriously.

"It's just that, whenever I'm with him, I just can't seem to bring up that topic. He's so - ugh! Frustrating." She slapped her face, bringing herself back to senses and sighed.

"You know he's an asshole for cheating on you. There's no point in being with him anymore. You're the one that's getting hurt." Danny tried to explain her but deep down she knew that Becca would only ignore her.

"Maybe you're right," Becca said with a sigh.

"Yeah, no shit!" Danny scoffed incredulously.

"What's up with you anyway? You've been looking like crap for two days now." She asked with scrutinising gaze.

"It's nothing. I'm just...just feeling a little sick." Danny lied. She didn't want to share her life problems with anyone. She didn't want to dump her baggage on someone because all she would get is their pity and she didn't want any of it.

Danny turned back to her work, as she was lagging behind a lot. She had been spending a lot of time in search of an apartment that was cheap and reliable. She didn't have time to complete her work.

Danny noticed Karen talking to Becca from the corner of her eye and decided to ignore her. She didn't have any energy left in her for another petty argument. Karen then walked up to her desk and tapped on it with her pen.

"Where's your report?" Karen asked holding out her hand.

Report? I have a report pending?

I didn't know of any report that was pending.

When Danny looked at Karen with her eyebrows furrowed with a questioning look,

"The one Mr Brown asked to be submitted by Wednesday?" Karen rolled her eyes.

Danny fished out her phone and looked at the date. It was Friday.
Danny's eyes widened which implied that she had totally forgotten about that report.

"Well well, look who has become sluggish and lazy." Karen taunted her with a satisfied smirk.

"Shit! I totally forgot! What do I do?" Danny asked more to herself with panic.
