It was very late in the evening and Danny sat in the living room as she stared at the TV screen in front of her. She wasn't paying attention to it or the music that was coming from it. Her mind was too busy and occupied already.

Sam's question the other day still ventured in her mind.

Do you like Damien?

She wanted to spontaneously say 'no', but that didn't or wouldn't come out of her mouth. She wanted to clear any doubts that Sam had about her feelings but she couldn't clear them because she wasn't sure herself. Actually, she wasn't sure how she felt.

All she felt from a long time was a void in her heart and in her life. But somehow from the time she met Damien, even though under the worst circumstances and even though he didn't like her very much, somehow that void seemed to fill a little. She didn't know if it was because of him or because of his family who went out of their way to make her feel warm and comfortable. But the emptiness she always felt in her mind was filled and her mind seemed safe.

She didn't feel lonely anymore.

She wondered if Samantha was right.

Do I like Damien?

No. It would be dangerous. She would be in deep, deep trouble.

Even if she did like Damien like Sam had told, she knew it would be wrong and it would be completely unethical. For one, he was a cop and he was investigating the murder she was somehow involved in.

And two, he already had a girlfriend. She was beautiful and she seemed genuinely nice. Danny already felt extremely guilty that she had kissed him but if she really admitted her feelings, then it would be the next level of wrong. And she wasn't brought up to be the girl who would destroy a relationship.

Danny was lost in her own world of thoughts that she didn't even realise that Damien had passed by her and sat down on the couch adjacent to her.

Damien's brain was a wreck. It was very close to getting exploded and he could feel it in his every nerve. He had never been so destroyed over girls. He never thought he could or would be. Girls were always easy for him. Even though he didn't play with girls, he never had stable relationships. All of them were casual and even the girls knew what they were getting themselves into, so they didn't mind.

But it all seemed to change. He knew that wasn't in love with Ava. He liked her dearly but love somehow didn't work out with Ava. She loved him and he knew it and maybe that was the reason why he hadn't been able to break up with her. He didn't want her to feel like he cheated her.

But now he did. Everything changed when he kissed Danny. He didn't know why he did it but he knew, he wanted to do it or more like he needed it. It felt awfully difficult for him to stop himself around her. She was always on his mind or was always somewhere around her. But that day, when she was that close to him he couldn't stop himself. It was as if unknown emotion had pulled him to her like it was meant to happen.

Nope.

I do not like her.

But he wasn't going to think over it. He still saw her as a suspect and he would find out the truth about her.

He reached forward to grab the remote and changed the channel. Danny snapped her head towards him and glared. "What the hell, dude? I was watching something."

He didn't turn to look at her, "Now, you're not."

She scoffed, "Give me the remote, Damien." She warned.

Damien looked back at her with challenging eyes, "Or what?"

"You wouldn't like it." She smirked.
