Chapter Six.
Renny and Carole made their way to the market a little before three. It was a bright sunny day.
A small crowd gathered around the Gruff Farms tent, mostly kids curious to pet the cute little chocolate colored goat. It seemed to enjoy the attention, its tail shaking so fast, sniffing at all the curious little hands
"Oh look, that must be Choco" Carole smiled. She was fond of farm animals, although fond memories and ruining suits were no longer comparable.
Melody was busy wrapping and bagging orders while her Brother, a large guy, at least six-three was happily talking to the kids, telling them all about the farm. His moppy curly hair was exactly as it was in the poster. What you couldn't see in the poster was his beautiful smile, straight teeth and wide, with dimples that appeared with it. She was momentarily pleasantly stunned.
"Wow" Her mom saw him now too "Renny, I'm going to go introduce myself"
"Don't you dare!" Renny warned, knowing her mother's plan
"What? I want to know if he tasted the dip" She assured with convincingly
"Mom!" Renny struggled past giggling kids, to keep up with Carole with her hawk eye on Brody, who was holding the goat on a lead, crouched down with a little toddler helping it to pet the animal
Carole was getting closer to Brody, Melody looked up and saw her heading for the tent "Miss Carole, you made it" She called. Brody looked up to see who his sister was calling out to so enthusiastically, and saw a woman in her thirties, grasping at air trying to grab at another woman in front, perhaps in her fifties in a suit and heels, a few steps in front of him now.
Renny stopped struggling, she was too late, her mother had reached the Gruff siblings.
"A-Mazing" Melody said "You should be selling that in the cafe"
Carole blushed with the compliment, and looked to the man holding the goat.
Renny tingled, something was irking at her, like her guardian angel were pushing her to something
"This is Miss Carole, the woman I told you about, she owns that place I love, Beanz Cafe?"
"Oh" Brody smiled "Hello"
"Me and my daughter own it, this is Renny"
Renny stood behind her mom. She was in black leggings and black tee, her converse and her hair up in a ponytail, and her white apron still on, she realized.
"Hi Renny" He smiled
"Miss Carole She made the dip" Melody told him
"Oh that was you? I put that on my sub" He explained how much the sandwich had become so much better with her dip slash sauce, as Brody called it.
Meanwhile Choco had made her way over to Renny, who was weaving and lifting her feet trying to stop the goat from chewing her laces. Kids giggled and pointed as she danced around, the goat winding in and out of her legs, now chasing the strings on her apron. She cursed herself for not taking it off. She managed to hold it still but found the lead the Brody was holding on to was wrapped around her, and she tried working her way out of the binds.
Brody, Melody and Carole were happy chatting away, and Choco started to get a little antsy. He had spotted a big bunch of helium balloons.
The three chatting away in front of her hadn't noticed the goat, or Renny for that matter, deep in conversation about dishes they had in common that their mother or grandmother made, that was better now with their cheese.
