Chapter 13.
A couple of days later, Renny and her mom were invited to the farm to talk about the business prospect further.
They had decided what they wanted for Beanz Cafe was a small menu from 10am to 2pm. Paninis, or a small select items to begin with. They wanted to use Melody's recipes, and let her have reign on it. She certainly had talent. Carole had also hoped they'd use her buffalo dip somehow.
They would set aside a kitchen for Melody, they had most things but were willing to spend money on some extras to make her comfortable. They had also decided on a small display fridge, for pre made sandwiches and the bakery goods, Dianne made the best tarts and cream puffs, and they would be a delight to have alongside some cheesecake.
They had talked about it over the last few days, asking their baristas what they thought, and as long as they didn't have to cook too they were on board and supported the idea, in fact seemed quite excited about it, and the more Renny put into it the more enthused she got for a new reopening.
She might even have a Grand Re-Opening, she had let herself imagine.
They were eager to know what Melody and Brody had thought about it all
"They wouldn't have asked us out here unless they wanted to negotiate, right?" Carole was nervous "I mean, do you see anything? Any signs?"
"I'm pretty sure we're here to talk about details mom" She assured her, seeing her twist her rings
"How sure?" she paused
"Very"
"You know"
"This is the right"
Carole visibly relaxed as they pulled into the driveway at the Gruff Farms sign, although her eyes were wide, business ready
"It's fine mom" She unbuckled and got out, she fixed her jeans, and put her hand through her hair, it was out and she didn't have time to straighten it, deciding on showering too late. She managed some makeup and a nice shirt, wrinkle free, and slipped on some sandals. Her hair had a curl to it, and they were loosely falling all over her shoulders.
Carole hobbled with her heels over the gravel in the driveway to Renny, who linked her arm to the porch, where she let go and carole straightened her shirt and blazer. She sniffed at the air, quite ripe with the smell of goats, and by the sound of it they weren't too far from the house.
They gave each other one last look, hopeful and anxious about where this would take them, and Renny knocked.
Melody swung the door open, her bright smile greeting them, and Brody stepped up from behind. He had a vintage blue tee on over some well fitting jeans, no shoes. It looked as though he had just got out of the shower himself, the neckline of his shirt wet and his clung together in curls.
"Welcome! Come in!" Melody moved to the side. The house was big, and country amazing. Everything was finished in heavy lacquered wood, the floor, the banister leading up the stairs, the large french windows, and complimented with soft whites and floral prints. Carole looked around in comfort, she felt right at home.
Brody held the door, and Renny's perfume brushed past him, and then he caught a glimpse of her behind, in those tight jeans. Melody shot him a look, and he shrugged - with a grin
"This place is amazing Melody, I love it!" Carole gushed
"Thank you, I've always liked a traditional country home. Come on through, we have a BBQ out the back on the patio" and she led the way, Brody staying at the back of the group, making Renny look behind, just for a second, feeling the eyes on her butt.
