Chapter 11.

"He got home about ten thirty, a little after" Renny corrected Dixie and her mother.

They were busy in chatter about Melody and Davis, making up stories about how late Davis actually got home, which had turned into 'somewhere near midnight'

"Oh?" Her mother raised an eyebrow

"I was up" Renny added, seeing the look Dixie shot her

They were sitting at a table in their cafe. There were a few customers, most with paper and reusable bags beside them enjoying Beanz's best blend.

They prided themselves on excellent coffee, great cakes from the Molly who owned the bakery down the street and a modern country feel in the furniture.

"I'd love to try one of those Panini's" Dixie changed the subject

"You just talk talk talk about them. What's the plan? Are you hiring Melody or Co-owning with her? Will Melody be making them? When is she starting?" Dixie fired her brains questions, before waiting for answers

"Honey, we are just talking for now" Carole assured with her smooth southern drawl

Renny sat back "so we cook for maybe brunch/lunch, as well as make coffee"

Carole nodded "Go on"

"What if we sold cheeses here too, in a fridge or something, boost sales, sweeten the deal for her brother who is going to miss her help for those few hours a day

Dixie chewed, looking slightly annoyed by the conversation going on over her

"Have you spoken to her?"

"Not yet, I was thinking we could go over to the market, talk to them?"

"Them?" Renny cocked her head

"Her and her brother. It involves him to" She sat back up, her hair catching some light, showing how perfectly silky and well kept it was

"I suppose".

"Miss Carole!" Melody greeted Carole and Renny her with a big smile as they stepped in to the Gruff tent.

"What a nice surprise, what brings you by?"

"we wanted to run an idea by you"

She looked puzzled

"Where's your brother?"

"My brother? Why?"

Brodie stepped in to the tent , on cue "Hello ladies" He said in a deep tone, another flannel shirt and some great fitting jeans, Renny noticed, and she also noticed he was goat free

"No Choco?" Renny asked, partly serious

"No, I'm afraid Choco is in a time out" He smiled side, a genuine white toothed smile.

Renny caught herself from falling into his words. "Good. That thing is just plain rude"

"She is" He agreed, nodding "I see she left a good mark" He looked at her eye that was almost back to her normal skin tone, with a hint of yellow "Yowch I'm really sorry" he sucked in air through his teeth

She touched it "I lived"

"So what brings you ladies by today?" He was much taller than his sister, and stood by wondering what she was looking so questioning for

"Well, me and Renny were wanting to add something to the cafe" She spoke slow and proper, with her little southern primness coming through. A very live phone voice. "And we wanted to add to the menu"

"We were thinking we wanted to start serving a 'Brunch to Lunch' menu, something basic at first, just a few options"

Brody was listening intently, she could feel his eyes on her and she felt her cheeks go red

"We wanted to know if you'll be our chef? Our head cook, the inventor whatever you want to call it" Renny said

"And we want to use your cheeses" Carole directed to Brody "Your recipes, Your cheese" She pointed at them

"And we can advertise, Melody can wear Gruff farms logos, and we can sell the cheese, or have samples..." Renny was now growing more excited

The siblings looked between each other "It sounds great" Melody finally said "I mean, wow" She grew in eagerness at the idea as Renny did "They were that good? I mean are you sure?"

Brody finally spoke "We need to talk about it" He said carefully "I like the idea, but we would have to talk.."

"Of course" Carole touched his arm "Take your time, we just came up with the idea and it's new to us too"

Although it was clear by Melody's face that her mind was made up. They left them to discuss whatever would get Melody her own kitchen.

"Do you think?"

"Yes mom" She confidently said, and linked her arm in her mothers on the way back to the cafe "this is exactly where we're meant to be"
