Chapter 20: Someone call 911

I woke up in the morning at my usual time, 6:30. I got out of bed and remembered I had a game today. That just put me in a good mood. Coach Ahmad told us at practice yesterday to dress nicely for the game since we have a home game today. I decided to wear this:

My hair took a while because I had to straighten it before I did the braids or else it would've been a hot mess. I was actually kinda proud d of my outfit choice today. It was my style but a little more dressy. I don't mind it, but I prefer hoodies and sweats.

Once I finished getting ready I went downstairs to the kitchen and grabbed an apple so I had a little energy. Bryce came down before tayler, surprisingly, and said "so what was that whole thing last night about?" I didn't know what to say. If I told him I knew he would find Jackson and beat him up pretty badly. Don't get me wrong, Jackson deserves it, but I don't like to wish on other people getting hurt.. no matter who it is unless they messed up that badly for me to hate them. For example, Loren. "Jackson followed me home, Thats all."

"Then why were you crying and out of breath then?" Bryce said. Oh god, now I should just tell him. "Ok fine, he chased me home. Last time he chase me he tried beating me up so I did t want that to happen. And it was dark out." Bryce said "ok, tayler might freak but I'm not mad at you. I wanna rip Jackson's head off though." I couldn't help but laugh. Luckily Jackson doesn't go to my school anymore, he moved to another school close by but I forgot the name of it. Tayler came downstairs and said "ok let's go." Me and Bryce nodded and raced to the car. I won and got the front seat while Bryce was in the back.

While we were driving I said to my brothers "so I have a game today and you two idiots better come." Bryce said "I would love to, but I have a date." Tayler then added "I can't go, I have to work tonight. Sorry Nik." To be honest, I was bummed they wouldn't be there.. but I knew they can't be at every single one of the games. I put on a fake smile and said "ok, have fun at your date and work guys." We all laughed and eventually got to school. I was at my locker when arms went around my waist. I looked up thinking I'd see josh but instead saw Charli. We both bursted out laughing and Charli said "good morning to my favorite player on the football team!" "Good morning to my personal cheerleader!" We both laughed again and Charli said "so I need you to braid my hair, I forgot to this morning and now I can't see what I'm doing." I laughed and said "ok sure." I quickly did a French braid in her hair and she said "thanks bestie Westie!" I laughed and said "no problem. I'm gonna go find josh, see you in class." She smiled and left while I went to find josh.

When I found him he looked awfully uncomfortable. Why? Because Loren was all over him again. He looked at me with a "help me" look. I walked over to them, pushed Loren away, and kissed josh. He smiled and put his arms around my waist and his head on top of mine. Loren said "dang Nicole, looks like you got attacked by a cat or something." I laughed at her while saying "ok and? You look like a whole plastic Barbie doll." She laughed and said "your point?" "Loren you don't get it do you? Name one person in this school who actually likes you." She said "well Zoe does!" I looked at Zoe and saw her eyes go wide like she was in shock or that Loren lied. I said "don't look like it. Try again." She did a little growl thing at me and walked away. Josh smiled at me and said "thanks, I couldn't get her away." I smiled and he kissed my cheek and grabbed my hand, and we went off to class.

When we got to class ms fisher said "football girl your shirt it a little too revealing." I rolled my eyes and said "no it's not. I know dress code ms fisher and I'm definitely not breaking it right now." She rolled her eyes and jaden said to me "someone's on fire today." I laughed and said "yeah, I'm not letting anyone get into my head. All I'm focused about right now is winning." The boys smiled and we all did our work. To be honest, I didn't really have a good feeling about today's game. Maybe we were gonna loose?!

After school ended it was time for the game. I went to the locker room and got changed into my gear. Before I put my helmet on, I put my hair into a braid so it wasn't all over my face. Once I finished I put the helmet on and went out the the field by my team. Coach said "ok is everyone ready for the game?! You better be!" We all shouted "YES WE ARE!" Coach then said "and are we gonna lose?!" Once again, we all shouted "NO WE'RE NOT!"  Coach laughed and we all did our team chant. "Dolphins on 3! Dolphins on 3! 1..2..3.. DOLPHINS!" We all laughed and got into positions. I wonder what I was so worried about.. until I saw what it was.

Jackson. Jackson was on the other team up against me. I looked at josh, who was next to me and he gave Jackson a death stare, kinda cute. Jackson said "I got the girl." I was up for a little challenge. "Aright fine. Whatever." The referees blew the whistles and the game began. Josh passed me the ball and I ran down the whole field with it. I got to the end and scored a touchdown. Already winning and the game just started, so far so good.. right? We got back into positions and started again. This went on for a while, me having the ball and Jackson trying to tackle me but he failed every time because josh would get him first.

That was until the final five minutes. The game was tied, 50/50. If we got this touchdown, we won, if they got it they won. The pressure is on me now, I'm the only one who can get through these kids. They started the game, I had the ball, Jackson following close behind. Josh was trying to tackle him but someone got to josh first. I was about to score but Jackson jumped on my back and smashed my head into the ground. Everything went black almost immediately

Jackson picked up the ball and ran to the other side and got the ball. You still weren't getting up. Your whole team didn't bother running after Jackson but instead cane to you, josh being there first. He got to you and turned you over and saw your eyes closed. He got very nervous. The referees saw you laying there and stopped the game. Loads of people crowded around you and an ambulance came. They were letting one person go with you so coach said "Josh you go. I don't see her brothers anywhere today." Josh nodded and quickly followed you. He was a nervous wreck.

While they took you away Charli was hysterical crying worried sick about you. She ran to the locker room and changed and her and Dixie drove to the hospital. Charli called Bryce and said "b-Bryce.." he answered and said "Charli? What's up?" Charli was still crying and said "n-Nicole.." Bryce said "Charli what the hell happened." Charli said "Jackson was on the other team today and he-he hurt Nicole. They just took her to the hospital, Josh is with her.. me and Dixie are going there now." Bryce immediately said to his date "I'm sorry I gotta go, my sister is in the emergency room right now." The girl he was with said ok and Bryce left and called tayler.

Back at the field the boys on your team were super mad at Jackson for hurting you. Jaden finally said "ok I've had enough. I'm going to go at him for our finally play. I don't even care. What the hell did she do to him that made him think he could just do this to her." The others agreed and the game started again. The announcer said "it's looking rough for the dolphins! With their two star players gone right now who knows what will happen!" The game started and instead of getting the ball jaden tackled Jackson. The other boy all worked together getting the ball down the field and got the winning touchdown. None of the boys celebrated, they all quickly got changed and cleaned up and went to the hospital.
