~Summer~
~June 30, 2015~
~Tuesday~
The next 3 days was a drag, it was filled with drama. Every channel on TV was talking about that one girl, Rachel, the scene at the forest, or the purple moon. Mom and Dad stayed chatting amongst themselves, which I assume was about the plan. A few times I heard, 'that'll never work' or 'he's gonna see that coming.'
Devonte was either sleep or outside training, working on his form and technique. I trained alongside my brother, but mostly I was researching for more info on the Emperors.
Too bad I couldn't find anything..
~Tuesday Night~
I knocked on Devonte's door. "Yeah" he answered. I walked in and closed the door behind me. He was playing with water sculptures again. I leaned against a wall and folded my arms.
"You nervous?" I asked.
He looked at me and back at his hand. "Nah," he replied.
"Oh ok, you've been in your room for most of the day and haven't said a single word to anyone." I waited for him to responded, but he ignored me.
"What's going on man?" I questioned.
He shape shifted 4 ice ninja stars and threw them at the door, they liquified and drenched the carpet.
"Are you gonna talk or not?" His silence was staring to irritate me. He shrugged his shoulders and continue forming more water items in his hand.
Devonte got up and walked around the room. He stopped by the window and pointed. I didn't even have to look, I knew he was pointing to the purple moon.
"Yeah I know, it has gotten darker," I said.
I waited for a response, but it never came. Maybe he needs some fresh air, he hasn't been outside all day. I could use the breather as well, this might be our last chance to be normal.
"Follow me," I said opening the door. He surprised complied, he didn't argue or question why. Walking downstairs, mom turned her attention towards us.
"We're going for a walk, we'll be back," I said hastily before she can get a word in. We grabbed our hoodies off the rack and headed outside. The night was warm and calm. We put on our hoods and strolled down the sidewalk. The first few minutes into the walk was silent. I didn't mind though, I was admiring everything, except the moon.
I decided to break the ice, "so what's really bothering you?" I asked glancing at him for a response. He put his hand in his pockets and stared straight ahead.
"That one girl umm, Rachel I think," he said.
"Ok what about her?"
"It doesn't worry you, that we are not the only elemtist family in the normal world?"
I pressed my lips together, while kicking at the loose pebbles on the sidewalk. She's the last thing on my mind, so I haven't given it much thought. All I could think of these last few days was Cade and the Emperors of Sky.
"No not really," I replied.
Devonte adjusted his hoodie, "I was thinking...if we found her, maybe she could help us," Devonte said.
"How can we get help from someone who don't know how to control her element?"
"We could teach her the basic, at least. Devin we could use as much help we could get," he said in low tone, almost as if he didn't want to admit it.
I looked away when he said that. I knew he was right. Then again, maybe she'll just get in the way of things. Asking her to join us is the same as asking her if she's ready to throw her life away.
