~Summer~

~Wednesday Night~"Who was that girl" I thought to myself. No matter how hard I tried to remember, I couldn't put a finger on it. As I dreamt, I saw a little boy sitting down in a dark room. He looked maybe 4 or 5 years old. The boy reminded me of a dream I had after meeting, the girl.
The dream didn't tell me anything. I was trapped inside that little boy's body, inside a room with toys. Imagine just being stuck sitting down, not being able to move. That was my entire dream last night. I felt a sudden tap on my shoulder.
"Dad is about open the portal. All your gear is downstairs, everyone's waiting for you," Devonte said as he left my room.
A huge lump formed in my throat. I walked towardsthe door and took one last look at my room.
"I'll be back," I whispered and hoped.
"Ok, we're right on schedule. Honey grab the orbs please," Dad said. Mom walked into the kitchen and pulled out a jar from the top cabinet.
"Is this part of the plan?" Devonte asked.
Mom reached in the jar, and joined us in the living room. Dad held up 3 quarter sized orbs. They were a teal color with a polished core. The orbs were transparent and inside a blue smoke was brewing.
"These are Transporting Orbs, fancy name right. Anyway, when thrown in front of you, it will teleport you in the shed behind the house," dad explained.
"The shed is where the portal is located," mom added.
"So we use these as a getaway strategy," I said.
"Yes, but it can only teletport one person per orb." Dad said while holding them in the palm of his hand.
"Your mom has told me she found someone to accompany you. Make sure you watch each other's back."
"I advise you to look for Rachel, she will be essential to the both of you," mom smiled
"Wait, you found her? How did you get her to agree to this? Do she even know how to control her element?" I quizzed.
"You're asking to many questions, Devin. I've taken care of what needed to be done with her. Besides, someone has to stop your brotherly disputes," she responded.
"Wow okay, " Devonte shook his head.
I wasn't getting a good feeling about her coming with us. She literally ballasted her mother out of a window a few days ago. Now all of sudden she's ready to go to Sky, no way. Unfortunately, I have no say so in this situation. I just have to trust my mom's judgment.
Dad handed me the three orbs and I placed them in a safe space in my pack.
"Follow me," dad led us outside and into the backyard.
He walked behind the shed, and held up a bowl full of yellow powder. Devonte looked at me and pointed at the bowl. We've been behind our shed, plenty of times. How come we've never seen a random bowl with powder in it? Even if we did see it, we wouldn't know what to do with it.
Dad opened the door, it was pitch black inside. He grabbed a handful of the yellow powder and tossed it into the darkness, but nothing happened.
"I think the portal is broke," Devonte noted.
"Give it some time, it hasn't been used in awhile. Not since your grandma that is," mom said.
A small colorful circle slowly appeared in the midst of the darkness. It progressively grew as I watched in awe. Dad placed the bowl behind the shed once more and walked over toward mom.
