The Fire District was a real sight to see around this time of night. I walked slowly on the side walk, to embrace the colorful night. We've been in Sky for about 3 or 4 days and I've noticed cars are very rare in this world. Most of them are parked in the parking lot of the CTS, no one actually drove on the roads.
I felt a sharp pain in my back that made me wince. My wounds from the snake mustn't have completely healed yet. Just thinking about those cobras made my blood boil. I did everything in my power to kill them, but......it wasn't enough. I'm still too weak of an elementist..... I let my fear control my actions, fear stopped me from stopping that horrible transformation. I-I could've stopped it, maybe they would be right here with me.
They're always getting stronger, even if they don't see it themselves. D-dragons? When did they...? How did they....? Their abilities were elevated to a level I didn't think was possible. All of that power... Where did it come from? Their eyes took on the color of their element and their hair became their element. The look on their faces when they were in pain was scary to watch.
It's almost as if they were forced into changing. My mind filled with anger. That was all Cade's doing, I'm sure of it. Mya told me Devin has been in contact with Cade ever since he arrived in Sky Central. He knew every attack that has happened before it occurred. Why didn't he tell us? We could've came up with a plan or something.
I walked into the CTS and it was nearly empty. Workers turned their attention towards me, I gave a nervous wave and quickly put my hand down. What am I doing? I closed my eyes and shook my head, stick to what needs to be done. I straightened up and walked calmly to the counter. "One ticket to the Air District" I ordered. The female receptionist woke up from her slumber and let out a big yawn.
Her face was full of confusion, she checked the time on her watch and yawned once more. "One ticket to the Air District, please?" I asked. "Give me a sec...." the receptionist whispered. I nodded my head and the girl went to the employees room.
I really hope I was right about Cade. Since Devin is out of it, maybe he wouldn't send any enemies. Unless he wants to kill me, then he would. I tapped my fingers on the stainless steel counter. "Ugh where is she" I mumbled.
I looked around the CTS, the receptionist was no one where in sight. I really need to get to the Air District, and back here. There's no telling when those two, will change again. I leaned over the counter and sighed. A few more minutes passed and the receptionist haven't returned.
"Rachel right?" A familiar voice spoke to me. Emma stood behind me, looking friendlier than the first time we met. I gripped my sai and rolled my eyes. "I'm not here to fight you" she said. I didn't let my guard down, in fact I held my sai even tighter than before.
"Then why are you here?" Emma glanced at my sai holsters and folded her arms. "I want to speak with you." I shifted my weight to my left foot and put my free hand on my hip. "About?"
"The cobras.....and Devin." Her voice sounded sincere and down to earth. I let go of my sai and straightened up. How does she know about that? Well her mom is working with Cade. The receptionist walked out of the employees room holding a cup of coffee.
She came at the right time, now I have an excuse to leave. "I would love to stay and chit chat, but I really have to go." I apologized, even though I didn't mean it, and turned my attention to the girl.
"How may I help you?"
"One ticket to the Air District" I said expressing my annoyance. "Make that two" Emma implied. I looked back her and she smiled. The receptionist stared at us. "Is there a problem?"
"I don't know, will there be a problem?" I snapped my head at Emma and she kept smiling. "Nope, none at all." The receptionist printed out two tickets and pointed at the portal we were assigned to.
