Burning Darkness [ Under Heavy Construction]

Chapter 17

"Where do you think you're going?!"

"We're leaving" the woman said. We made our way out of the door. There was a loud scream.

I watched as the door burst open. The dream still wouldn't let me make out the face.

The figure shot a powerful beam at us. The women put a protective bubble around us and kept running.

"Bring him back!" He attacked relentlessly, but the bubble was impenetrable.

She ran for what seemed like hours, until we stopped at a lake. She stared into my eyes and began to tear up.

"Arrgh!" A beam plowed into the bubble.

"Just let us go" she begged.

The figure held a glowing light in his hand. "You are taking him away from me. I can't let you leave!" The gleam grew in size.

"I know what you are planning to do, I won't let that happen."

"That's not your choice. " The gleam increased steadily. The more it grew, the faster the wind picked up and the more the rocks uprooted.

"You have until the count of 5...."

"1..."

"No, you wouldn't."

"2..."

"Not on your family!"

"3..."

"Please, don't do this" she was in tears.

"4..."

"okay, okay!"

I couldn't hear him count over all the noise it created.

The figure released the glow.

It was as if everything moved in slow motion. She clutched my head and jumped in the water, the blast shot passed her head.

She didn't surface but, we moved underwater with incredible speed.

Everything went dark. The dream had changed and we were walking on a street.

Everything started fading away, I guess I was starting to wake up.

I opened my eyes and watched the blue material move slightly as the wind whispered.

I didn't hear Devonte or Rachel's voice, so I guess they were still sleep.

The dream this time was just as confusing as the one before. I frowned at the thought of Cade watching.

I sat up and put my face in my hands. My hands glowed with a fiery purple.

Cade was calling me once again.

Cade stood over me and clapped. I drew my eyes together in confusion. "Nice job Devin" he said.

"You passed the first part of the test."

"First part?"

"It'll only get tougher, from here on out."

Cade reached into his pocket and in his hand was a little three headed snake.

"This is the next challenge?"

"Pfft, don't make me laugh." He tossed the snake off to side.

"Watch." The snake grew to an incredible size. The three heads hissed at me while sticking their tongues out.

"This 15 feet monster here, will be your next challenge."

I examined the snake up and down.

"Do you except?"
