Chapter 8

In school all I could think about is how Joey was going to be in New York. Unknowing when was so painful and scary! I couldn't focus on anything and I was jumpy. In my seat I kept playing with my skirt and I think people started to notice. In English Kyle definitely did and confronted me. She mouthed are you okay? I nodded as a reply.

"So class pick a partner and edit their essay." Kyle quickly took the seat next to me.

"Spill it." I got nervous.

"There isn't anything to spill. Give me your essay." I snatched it out if her hand and started to read.

"There is, you keep playing with your skirt and hair, you keep scribbling in your notebook and you aren't focused at all. What's wrong?" She said with force.

"You missed a comma." I said ignoring her.

"Savannah!" She said yet again being forceful.

"Okay, just promise you won't tell anyone! Not even Janey! If Jack hears he might get mad." I said getting scared.

"Did you cheat on him?" Kyle replied sounding surprised.

"No, no, never! Kyle, Joey is coming to New York. I don't know when, but he is." I said.

"And why would Jack be mad?" She said.

"He hates him. After all the stories I've told him and after talking on the phone with him...he hates him."

"I don't know what to tell you. I'm sorry." I just looked back at her essay. Jack texted me.

Jack my baby! <3: Hey want to hang out after school? Zack and Noah are coming to. If thats a problem we can just hang out you and me.

Me: Yes! And its not a problem. They're my boys. :)

Jack my baby! <3: Ok I'll meet you at your locker. Love you babe.

Me: love you more <3

I was a dead girl.

"Savannah you are the slowest human being!" Jack said kidding around.

"Shut up!" I said playfully pushing him. When I finally packed all my books I closed my locker and started heading out the doors with Jack, Zack and Noah when Ava stopped us.

"Hi Zack." She said flirtatiously. I was surprised that she didn't try to say hi to Jack.

"Uhhh...hi." He said annoyed that she would even think to talk to him. She saw it but tried even harder to impress him. It was actually hilarious how desperate she was to get Jack back. When I put two and two together I figured she was probably trying to get him jealous...poor kid.

"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out sometime?" She gambled. He took a deep breath and quickly responded.

"No." The boys laughed in her face and left her just standing there.

"Guys that was really mean!" I said feeling bad.

"She's mean Savannah." Noah replied.

"Go back and say something sorry Zack." I forced.

"Savannah." He wined.

"GO!" I said with even more force in my voice.

"Alright." He said giving in. He walked back over and started talking to her. From where we were standing it almost looked like he started to flirt with her a little. When he came back he looked surprised.

"What is that face..." Noah said in disgust.

"Nothing." He replied.

"She offered you something...did she offer to give you head..." I said hoping it wasn't true.

"No Savannah! Just stuff." He was being vague about it. I didn't like it because it made me wonder.

"So where are we going?" Zack said changing the subject.

"Where ever." I said.

"Your house! You have the best couch!" Noah said. Jack was being unusually silent. He didn't have anything to say about Zach and Ava nor where we were going. What was going on?

"Jack is that alright with you, if we go to my house?" I said trying for his attention.

"What?" He said coming back from space.

"Want to come to my house?" I said.

"Yeah sure." He was scaring me. The way he zoned out after talking about Ava getting with Zack and the way he wasn't paying his usual attention to me. We started walking anyway. He started acting normal. Giving me kisses and hugs. When we got to my house all he boys came in following me.

"Mom!?" I yelled. She came rushing to the side door to me and the boys.

"Sweetie can I talk to you for a moment. Sorry boys." She said.

"No problem Ms.Harpin." My mom and I went into the next room over.

"You have to send those boys home. I have a surprise in the kitchen for you." She said.

"Mom you know I hate surprises..." I said taking shoes off.

"Savannah be happy. Many kids don't have a mom to give them surprises. Tell the boys you can't hang out." She walked away going back into the kitchen. I herd another woman's voice and then laughter. I walked back to the boys.

"Is everything okay?" Jack asked.

"Ummm...yeah I think I actually don't know but my mom said I can't hang out." I answered.

"Surprise!" I herd from behind me. I got wide eyes and my mouth opened. I saw the boys looking at him. When I turned I saw him.

"Who is that?" Jack asked fully aware of who it was.

"Jack...this is Joey." I said.

"Savannah, this is your boyfriend?" He said looking like I disappointed him with my choice. Jack started towards him, but Zack and Noah caught him in time.

"Yes Joey. This is Jack." I rolled my eyes.

"Why is he here?" Jack said getting angry.

"I don't know! I honestly didn't even know he would be in New York!" I said. Joey walked back towards the kitchen. Zack took Jack outside to cool him off.

"Who is that?" Noah asked me.

"My ex...my mom thinks we are like best friends. Jack hates him because when we first started talking I told him what he did to me and he just really hates him now." I explained.

"Listen, I will take Jack back to my house, cool him off and text you. Sound good?" Noah said.

"Yes. Thank you." I kissed his cheek.

"Any time Sav." He replied. We went outside together.

"Bud why don't we go to my house instead?" Noah said to Jack.

"Yeah...yeah." He replied.

"Come on man." Zack said.

"Start walking I want to talk to Savannah." Jack said. This couldn't be good. They started walking like Jack asked.

"What is it?" I asked. He grabbed my face and brought it close to his.

"If he does anything Savannah, anything. Call me! I'll be over in seconds." He said. I felt bad. I feel like I did this to him. I was the reason he was so anxious and nervous.

"I will. Promise." I said. He kissed me.

"Let's go!" Zack called. I felt like Jack was leaving me forever the way this goodbye went over.

"Bye babe." He kissed me again.

"Bye Jack." He started to walk away. I watched as he walked away. I was scared and wanted him to come back. I felt my phone buzz in my hand. It was Noah.

Noah Calmand: It will all be fine. Promise.

I looked up to him down my drive way. He just nodded and I went back inside to face the devil they called Joey. I was ready to face hell once again.
