Gino rushed into the bathroom of the Bristo and sank to his knees; after taking a few gulps of air, he got up from the floor and looked at the mirror, questions running inside his head, What happened? Why was he feeling this way? Gino took the necklace that his grandmother had given him and held it in his hand, looking at it through the mirror.
Why was this necklace shaking when that man walked past? It was moving like it had a mind of its own.
The more Gino thought about it; the more his head hurt him. After a while, Gino tucked the necklace back in its place before splashing cold water on himself and making his way out of the bathroom.
Once Gino came out, Rob saw his complexion and was by his side instantly.
"Gino, are you okay? You look a bit pale there, my boy."
"I'm alright, just feeling a little light-headed, is all."
"Maybe we should call it a night for you, huh? How about you go home and rest, and I'll see you tomorrow? How about that?"
"Are you sure, sir, we seem to be busy tonight? I can stay till my shift is over."
"I'm sure you're a good kid, Gino. You're always here early and always the last one to go home. I admire that about you; as for tonight, you're going home first. Bristo will be fine; go home and get some rest. Okay, see you tomorrow night." With those words, Rob left, not giving Gino a chance to argue further.
With a sigh, Gino made his way towards the back of The Bristo, where the workers hung out and had their breaks; walking to his locker, he unlocked it and grabbed his bag and jacket before making his way to the exit used by staff.
The following day Gino woke to the sounds of his phone ringing; after looking at the caller ID, the sleepiness had vanished from Gino; he cleared his throat before answering.
"H-Hello... today ahh yes, no, there's no problem .. Okay, please email me the details, and I'll be there in an hour. Yes, see you then, bye."
Gino let out a big smile hugging his phone to his chest like it was the most precious thing to him, and laid make down on his bed, rolling sideways like a little kid that couldn't wait to open his present on Christmas day.
A good five minutes had passed before Gino jumped out of the blanket and the bed; grabbing his towel, he made his way to the bathroom.
Doris had just laid a plate full of breakfast for Gino before she saw him entering the kitchen.
"Morning, grandma," said Gino, kissing his grandma on the cheeks before sitting and eating his breakfast.
"Grandma, those people I met the other day want me to go to their office and talk about my design today," said Gino after taking a few bites of his food.
"That's wonderful news, dear; I knew you could do it. I'm very happy for you, sweety," said grandma coming around the table to hug her grandson.
After the last bite of his pancake, Gino looked at his watch; if he didn't leave now, he would be late for his important meeting.
"Grandma, I'm going now. Thank you for breakfast, and thank you for believing in me. I'll see you tonight. Bye now."
"Bye, Sweety", shouted Grandma.
Gino arrived ten minutes earlier than the appointed time. He walked into the spacious lobby and admired the designs from the high ceiling to the fountain with little koi fishes swimming back and forth. But what had caught his attention was the statue of the fountain.
A dragon statue with its mouth open, water coming out of it. The more Gino looked, the more he liked the idea of a fountain with a dragon statue.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Gino. Please follow me. Did you wait long," asked Nick
"Ahh, no, I just arrived as well. I was admiring the design of the building, especially the dragon fountain; it's different."
"Yes, the fountain, our CEO specifically requested that a fountain be brought; oddly enough, he wanted a statue of a dragon instead of those normal fountains you would find at home or restaurant", explained Nick.
Gino nodded in response, not having anything to say, as if on cue; however, the elevator stopped, and the doors opened. Gino followed Nick into the elevator.
When they arrived on the twentieth floor, Nick got out, followed by Gino,
"This way, the meeting is held on this floor."Gino nodded his head but did not reply.
Gino followed Nick into a spacious, lit room with a long rectangular table placed in the middle of the room, accompanied by a vase of colourful flowers in the middle of the table. Nick gestured for Gino to take a seat before speaking.
"As I said on the phone, I wanted to discuss the design. Our CEO is happy with the design of this project and asked me to bring you in. He wanted to know if something could be adjusted."
"Yes, of course."
Gino took out his copy of the Blueprints from his bag and laid them on the table before he could open his mouth. The door to the room opened; a man that looked like he belonged in a wrestling ring walked in, followed by a man that Gino thought he would not encounter again.
