I've been sleepless at night

Cause I don't know how I feel

I've been waiting on you

Just to say something real

The sky had darkened, casting a heavy shadow over the Glade as the Gladers huddled in the cafeteria for dinner. Meanwhile, Thomas remained up at the watchtower with the new girl, still talking.

She figured he was still trying to make her feel comfortable, maybe calm her down from the shock of the Maze. But the longer they stayed up there, the more the Gladers began to wonder what was going on. Across the room, she could hear murmurs rising. Sitting at a table with his crew, Gally was staring at the watchtower with narrowed eyes, muttering something under his breath.

Newt and Jeff had taken their plates into the Homestead, tasked with keeping an eye on Alby. She watched as Newt disappeared inside, the memory of their earlier moment still clinging to her, warm and unspoken, like a secret shared only between them.

"I'm just saying, I totally saw it coming," Zart teased, a smirk playing on his lips as he tossed a carrot onto his plate, clearly enjoying whatever game he was playing.

Emma rolled her eyes and flicked a pea at his face, smirking when it bounced off his forehead.

Chuck, who had finally joined them after finishing laundry duty, glanced between the two with a look of curiosity. He leaned forward, his face scrunched in confusion. "Totally called what?" he asked, genuinely interested, his eyes bright despite the long day.

Emma quickly plastered on a reassuring smile and ruffled Chuck's unruly hair, causing him to groan and swat at her hand. "Nothing important, Chuckie, don't worry about it," she replied, keeping her tone light and dismissive.

Chuck let out a frustrated huff, crossing his arms over his chest. "No one tells me anything anymore. Thomas is busy with the new girl, and you hang out with either Zart or Newt all day," he complained, his voice tinged with the kind of childish annoyance that tugged at her heartstrings.

Zart tried to stifle a laugh but ended up choking on a mouthful of water instead. Emma shot him a sharp glare before kicking his shin under the table, making him wince in pain.

She turned her attention back to Chuck, who was looking at her with wide, expectant eyes.

"Sorry about that, Chuck. We've just been really busy lately, but I promise we'll start including you in everything again soon, okay? Just give us a little more time to get things sorted." Her voice was soft and sincere as she gently ruffled his hair, this time with more care.
