It was heaven a moment ago,
I had it, almost. We had it, almost.

In that razor-thin space between life and death, time folds in on itself, collapsing into a swirl of half-formed images and fragments of memories. Faces and places, moments of joy and grief, all bleed together like watercolors running in the rain.
It isn't the slow, deliberate kind of recollection people talk about, but rather a chaotic rush, like a film reel spinning out of control.
There's no logic to it, no order.
One moment, you're a child, laughing in the sunlight, the warmth on your face. The next, it's the darkness of the Maze, the cold fear, the rush of blood in your ears. The pain, the heartache, every small loss, every fleeting moment of comfort, it all surges up, crashing over you like a wave you can't hold back.
You can almost feel it pulling you under, like a weight dragging you into some unknowable abyss.
For a split second, it feels like it might all just end here, that every step, every decision, every wound has been leading you toward this one final breath. And in that breath, there's a strange clarity, a realization that maybe, just maybe, all the suffering will end with it.
But the thought comes too quickly, too sharply, slipping through your mind before you can fully grasp it. It's a blur, an overwhelming flash of life, love, and loss... there, and then gone, leaving nothing but the rush of your own heartbeat and the terrifying stillness that follows...
