"We have received breaking news. Fire and Desire a popular night club in New York City was the sight of destruction. We take you to Mark Shaddic live on the scene." The woman on the tv spoke. The picture changed to a man outside of the club. There was brief pause before he spoke.
"Thank you Mary. As you can see here the walls were completely destroyed by some unknown force. The police haven't been able to ascertain what has happened. What they do know is that the owner of Fire and Desire died in this apparent attack. The police have released this picture of the believed suspect." The screen then showed a black and white image of Raymond. "This man is believed to be extremely dangerous. If you see this man call the authorities immediately. Back to you Mary.
"Thank you Mark. Again keep your eyes open for this individual. We don't know what he's capable of so extreme caution is advised." The police Sketch of Raymond was everywhere. From the internet, to the newspaper, to random city walls.
One of the wanted posters was in the hands of the half monkey himself. He was looking it over with scrutiny. Scratching his chin Raymond crumpled it up, and threw it.
"They got my facial hair wrong." He said indignantly. Police officers were roaming the streets searching for him. Pulling the hood of his coat up to conceal his face.
To say it was easy for him to traverse the city undetected would be a lie. There's were police, and nosey people roaming the city trying to find him. Raymond's height didn't help his attempts at being discreet.
By the time the tailed youth got to his destination the sun was already setting. The sky was painted with different hues of orange and light purples. The promise that night was coming. The half monkey let out a sigh. He was safe for now.
Raymond was seen at a train station scanning the board for the Pittsburgh train. Once he found it the train number the youth sat on a nearby bench and waited.
When it finally arrived he boarded the train, and took a seat in the back. When asked for his ticket a single well placed glare stopped any and all questions about his right to be on board.
Sinking into his seat the young man's battle against sleep was finally lost.
---------------------------------------------------------
Opening his eyes, Raymond was no longer on the train. Instead he was in a house. Standing up he looked to see he was sleeping on a couch. It was red with a yellow quilt draped over it. He regarded it briefly with his golden eyes. Some how, some way, it looked familiar. Everything around him looked familiar. His heart started beating a little faster, his breath was caught in his throat. Anticipation, and anxiety filled him to his core. Walking out of the room he found himself in a hallway. With cautious steps the half monkey walked down the hall. Rounding the corner his eyes went wide at what he saw.
In front of him was a beautiful woman, much older then himself. She had long chestnut brown hair and blue eyes. Her eyes were on his. The woman gave him a warm loving smile. Walking up to him she put a hand on his shoulder.
"How are you feeling after your nap?" She asked him. Raymond was terrified, petrified by her voice.
"Wh-what?" He managed to choke out. Her brows knit in concern over him.
"Honey you look like you've seen a ghost." She said. The woman's eyebrow were knit together in concern. Lifting her unoccupied hand she brushed his forehead. "You don't feel warm. Is there something wrong, you know you can always talk to me right?" She asked him. Making it a point to calm himself down Raymond was able to find his voice.
"Yeah I know I can, it's just been hard lately........ Mom." He told her. "I've been trying, trying to find the people wh-who." He wasn't able to finish the sentence. The familiar prickle of tears was felt behind his eyes. Taking a deep shuttering breath the youth was able finish. "Killed you. I don't know if I'm close, but I won't stop til they get what they deserve." Raymond told his mom. The woman smiled at him, Although it was a sad smile.
"I wish you wouldn't." She told him. "I wish you would move on, and go live a life filled with happiness." She told him softly. The hand that was on his shoulder went up to stroke some of his hair out of his face. A few tears fell from his eyes.
"I know, I know you do Mom. I honestly wish I could too, but I can't. It's not about revenge, or getting even. I can't let these people hurt any other families like they did ours, I won't." Raymond spoke. His words were filled with passion not anger or venom. His mother's ever present smile changed to pride.
"You're a good boy Raymond." His mom told him. A small smile crossed his face.
"Thanks Mom." The half monkey then wrapped his arms around the smaller woman in a hug. She returned it without hesitation. Raymond felt an invisible force behind him. Pulling away from her son, the mother looked at the man before her.
"I'll always love you Raymond, and I believe in you." Were the last words he heard, before he was pulled away.
---------------------------------------------------------
The half monkey woke with a start. His golden eyes were wide and damp. Looking around he noticed he was back on the train. With a deep sigh he lounged back in the chair, and let sleep overcome him once again.
