'Thank god the waiter came.' Raymond thought to himself while stuffing pizza in his face.
'Why did I say that why?!' He internally screamed. Although Raymond always carried himself well. Always calm, cool, and level headed. His experience with the opposite sex was limited. He couldn't help but be a little nervous.
The silence was killing him internally. The half monkey hated silence. He really wanted to learn more about her, but she refused to talk. Raymond was a naturally curious person. That and the fact she really put a wollop on him earlier; how could he not be curious.
The girl had already eaten two slices of pizza, and was working on her third. With a sigh she put the piece down on her plate. Raymond was mid bite when he noticed her staring.
"Something on my face?" He asked and proceeded to wipe at it with his hand.
"No." Lyra answered.
"Is there something or someone behind me?" Raymond did a complete one eighty in his seat attempting find what she was looking at.
"No.... Whatever your name is." The girl responded. The golden eyed youth turned back around to face her.
"Oh how rude of me. My name's Raymond. You can call me Raymond, Ray, Ray-Ray, Sting Ray, X-ray, Ray gun, Ray-Man-
"I get it." Lyra interrupted. She was clearly annoyed.
"So what's up then." He asked.
"Well Raymond. I was tracking someone for months, I caught them, met an annoying bastard, got into a fight with said annoying bastard, the guy I caught escaped, and now I'm having pizza with the annoying bastard instead of trying to find the man it took months to find in the first place." She said with a huff. There was a brief pause before Raymond shrugged his shoulder.
"Yeah, not bad for a Tuesday morning." He said taking a bite of his fifth slice. Lyra just rolled her eyes.
"Hey come on, I told you we'd find him, and we will when I'm done eating. Trust me." The golden eyed youth tried to reassure the white haired girl.
"Yeah, because trusting strangers is a smart thing to do." Lyra shot back.
"Well we wouldn't be strangers if you were willing to talk." He told her.
"I told you my name." The white haired girl said dismissively.
"You're right, and now I know everything about you now Lyra." Raymond said liking the way her name felt on his tongue. Silence overtook them again.
"Fine." She finally said.
"Fine?" Raymond repeated in question form.
"Yes. You get three questions, and I choose whether I want to answer or not." She supplied taking another bite of her pizza.
"Sweet!" Raymond was genuinely happy. He managed to crack a layer.
"Alright, alright here's an easy one. How old are you?"
"Twenty five." She said seriously working on her last piece.
"Ooo I'm twenty four. Not surprised you're older then me." He said with a mouth full of pizza.
"Why's that?" Lyra asked genuinely.
"You're hair. I mean I would've thought you'd have to be older for your hair to lose it's color. Guess I have a year left of my sandy brown mane." Raymond said raking a hand through his hair. Lyra just stared at him blankly.
"I guess you don't get it, I was calling you old. You see old people have white hair." There was another pause between them. "Ah I guess you don't get it."
"I get it, it just wasn't funny." She told him blankly.
"Eh critic." Raymond said. "So what's the deal with your hair anyway? Is it natural, do you dye it?" He asked her. Her response was silence. "Guess that's one of those questions you aren't going to answer." Lyra merely nodded.
"Fine. So where does your strength come from?" Raymond asked her.
"My father's side of the family." The white haired girl answered shortly.
"Who's your father?" The half monkey asked eagerly.
"Nope that's four questuons." She said with finality.
"That's not fair you didn't answer the second question!" Raymond said childishly.
"Too bad. I told you three. You asked three." She supplied.
"Fine." The golden eyed youth said arms crossed. Their was a brief pause the waiter came back and took away their empty plates, and pizza trays. "Anything you want to ask me then?" Raymond asked. She was quiet again.
"Where's your strength come from?" She asked quietly. The electric eyed girl didn't want to seem too curious, but she was definitely wondering.
"My father's side." Raymond answered mirroring her answer.
"And your father is?" She asked.
"Sun Wukong." Raymond answered simply enough.
"The monkey king?!" Lyra questioned a bit to loudly.
"The very one." He said with a smile. Lyra eyed him for a moment almost as if searching for something.
"Your staring again." Raymond told her.
"It's just you- you don't look like a monkey." Lyra responded. This time around she wasn't trying to hide her curiosity of the man before her.
"Half monkey. I'm human everywhere that matters. Except for my tail." He said off handedly.
"You have a tail?" Lyra's eyes widened at his proclamation.
"Yeah, I don't exactly like to advertise it." Raymond said self consciencely.
Lyra took notice of his change in attitude. His usual cocky attitude gone. Raymond's inner nerves coming outward.
"If we're done here should we be on our way." Lyra said standing up. Raymond looked up at her and a smile crossed his face.
"Yeah let's go find our guy." The half monkey agreed. He was grateful for the change of subject. The two were headed for the exit when they heard a voice shout.
"Hey! You didn't pay for your food!" An employee called out.
"Run!" Raymond told Lyra and the two fled down the street.
