"Aw man they're really tearing it up down there," Remington says. We've all been standing at the edge of the cliff watching this whole attack unfold, making sure none of them decide to come and look threw our camp.
"It's a good thing we were able to get out when we had the chance," Reece says.
Back before towns and cities were rebuilt the Syndicates were a lot more ruthless. Going around killing people at their will. Scaring others into joining them. They took what they wanted. I can remember back when I first started living in the aftermath of the war. How my father would take me and my brother into hiding. He'd order for use to get down and stay quiet while he stood outside and talked with the Syndicates. My father was a smart man and listened to them. Gave them what they wanted without hesitation, no matter what it was as long as they didn't find where we were hidden.
The Syndicates still used to take children away from their families just as they do now. A lot of the time children are traded between gangs. It was not just the Syndicates who keep children as slaves. No. Other gangs do as well. The Syndicates just have the most of them, it's part of the reason why the got so big so fast, they sold workers to other gangs in return for money and supplies. Anyone under the age of thirteen could be easily scooped up and taken. Babies were either taken to be raised as a Syndicate or if they are too weak they'll be killed or traded off.
"I think I'm going to go head off to bed," I mutter, "I'm tired,"
"We might call you back out so we can take turns for watch, just in case these Synies start roamin' around out here," Remington says.
"Alright," I call back as I walk back through the trees and into camp. It's pretty dark out now. For most of the walk I just stare up at the stars, I always enjoyed looking at them. Sometimes when I can't sleep I'll sneak out and lay down in the grass, sometimes Corban joins me. He knows a lot about stars and basically anything that has to deal with science.
I climb into my tent and lay down. Maybe tomorrow something good will happen. The town will be weak from the attack we can probably steal a bunch of stuff. Then again if this raid is a bad one we may end up having to leave...

Not long after I've fallen asleep I'm woken back up by someone shaking my shoulder. I look up seeing Corban knelt down next to me. He looks scared.
"Elias, Elias get up," He whispers.
"What?" I mumble while sitting up letting the blanket fall off of me.
"They're coming this way," Corban whispers.
"Syndicates?"
"Yeah, get up and hide anything they might take," Corban says as he stands up and runs out of the tent.
I get up and grab a shirt and quickly throw it on as I fumble around my tent. It's pretty dark and its hard to see. I grab my hunting knives and run outside behind my tent where there was a tree. I quickly grab onto one of the branches and climb up. I stick the daggers into the trunk of the tree on the side not facing camp. I jump down and hurry back into camp.
Corban has already lit a fire and is standing in front of the fire pit. My guess is that Remington and Reece had already run off into the trees with some of our more valuable stuff like the money and the gun.
As I walk over to Corban I watch as a group of people wearing black clothing with the same red symbol sewed on walk towards us. Immediately I feel nervous. I hate seeing that symbol.
One of them, a woman with a black mask over her face, walks up to us and points a gun at us while the others search threw our stuff. We already know what's going on we don't need to be told what to do.
"Outsiders I see," The woman comments, "You think your too good for everyone else don't you,"
Neither of us respond. We let her do her thing.
"I bet you're just as useless as the rest of them too," The woman said.
"Mara!" A man called as he walked out of the woods with Remington and Reece held at gun point, "I found these two trying to run off,"
The woman stopped for a second and then walked over to Remington and Reece, "You," She said in an angry firm tone. She approached the two her head fixed in Remington's direction, "Remington Prince,"
"Excuse me?" Remington asked with confusion.
"You are in serious trouble Prince," The woman sneered.
"Look, you guys deal with a lot of people I think you have the wrong guy," Remington said in a calm voice.
"I wasn't born yesterday Mr.Prince, The Syndicates will not be tolerating you no longer. You can't his forever so fess up now and perhaps we may let you keep on living with maybe just a scrap of dignity left."
"But my name isn't Remington Prince, you see it's Milton Walt--"
"You can't trick us again you rat. You're face is known now Prince and every Syndicate knows You're that filthy little shit that TRICKED US OUT OF OUR MONEY! YOU AND THAT--" before the woman could finish her sentence Remington quickly stood up and head butted her. Once she was on the ground he pulled out his gun from his pocket and whipped it around hitting the man holding him at gun point right in the head. Remington quickly grabbed his gun and turned around shooting the woman in the head. He gave Reece the empty pistol and looked up at me and Corban as we stared at him confused and shocked.
"C'MON LETS GO!" He ordered as he and Reece took off towards the woods.
"GET THEM!" Another person screamed.
Me and Corban took off. Running in a zig-zag as bullets fire behind us. We ran into the trees following Remington and Reece who ran up ahead of us.
I had no idea what was going on.
How did that woman know Remington's name? Remington never said he had dealt with Syndicates like that. What money was she talking about? And how come they knew and could spot him so well?
