Episode Two, Part 4:
A l l i a n c e

We live in cities you'll never see on screens.
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run
things. Living in ruins of the palace within my
dreams. Y
ou know, we're on each other's team.

Wynn sighed as his head hit the pillow, grateful that another day was coming to an end, even though it had been one of the easiest days he had faced in a long time. Quill was in his own bed against the opposite wall, and just as he was about to distinguish the lantern between them, there was a knock at the door.

"Come in," Quill called out, sharing a look with his brother as they wondered who it could be.

The door opened and Kodiak appeared, cautiously peering his head in, not knowing if one of them would be asleep.

"Kodiak? What's up?" Quill asked.

"Sorry, I know it's late. I don't mean to disturb you, but Wynn," he turned his attention towards the other Sovereign, "if I could just borrow you for a few minutes?"

"Sure," Wynn said, pulling the sheets from himself and tiredly following Kodiak out the door.

"What's this about?" He asked once they were alone, thinking that he would be ready to talk, but Kodiak seemed on edge - leading Wynn down the hallway and into the map room.

"Kodiak, talk to me. Has something happened?" He asked, then, becoming a little more panicked at his hesitation to speak, "is it Elara?"

"No, no, she's fine," Kodiak held a hand out, trying to control his pacing around the table, knowing that it wasn't helping either of them. As he tried to think of where to start, his eyes scanned around the room, clearly contemplating in all the places where Wynn had stashed his evidence, and the other Sovereign noticed...

"Kodiak," Wynn sighed, figuring out what it was about. It was obvious that Kodiak had found everything whilst he was out, no doubt reading over everything for himself.

"I know about your plans," he confessed, waiting for the anger to spill out of Wynn, but it didn't come. "I-I'm sorry that I went behind your back; initially, I was worried, and I mean, we all know how you get when you bottle things up... I know you don't open up to anyone like you did with Riv..."

"Yeah," Wynn managed a pitiful laugh towards himself, shaking his head in an attempt to bury the hurt away, trying not to let it consume him.

"So how much of it have you had a look at?" He asked Kodiak.

"Enough."

"Have you figured out everything, or do you not need to? Do you just need to tell me how stupid it is?"

"Oh, it's insanely stupid," Kodiak replied without a beat. As Wynn looked down, he missed the smile appearing on his face. "If Riv was here, she'd be telling you that herself, but... She's not here. So I'm in."

"Y-You're-" Wynn couldn't get the words out, choking on his breath out of shock.

"I'm in," Kodiak repeated. "From what I've seen, your plan is reliable, but it's not even about that. It's that I don't want to do this without her anymore. Do life, or even being a Sovereign - without Riv. It's been too long; we should bring her home."

Wynn stood up from his seat, overwhelmed in relief and not sure how else to handle it other than to wrap his arms around Kodiak.

"Thank you," he said against him sincerely, knowing that those two words held so much weight in them.
