Episode Four, Part 1:
Frequency Illusion

I didn't come here to hurt you, now I can't stop.

Chessca slumped back into the chair at the end of her bed, trying to figure out what she could do in the meantime to convince Wynn and the others to bring Elara with them.

Her head was pounding, heavy with worry about all the things that could go wrong, and she wondered if Sol would ever be one of the few people lucky enough to get her memories. Surely the people that loved her would stop at no extents to make her remember, and the real Sol that had been trapped inside for 8 months still had her fight intact. She would remember... She had to.

"Chess?" There was a knock on the archway separating her tiny, box room from Sol's grand chamber, and she spun around, caught off-guard at her sudden presence.

"What are you doing here?" She panicked. "I-I thought you were going over plans with Rhea?"

"I was," Sol said, her words coming out in a tried exhale. "Well, I was supposed to, but I can't be bothered to deal with her today. I told her she'll have to work on the plans herself."

"She's not going to be happy about that," Chessca said, rather amused that Sol always seemed to put her in her place.

"I don't care she feels about it. I'm the Commander," Sol joked, somewhat serious, however. As she observed Chessca's reaction, there was a gut feeling that consumed her, something that had been present for a while now and she had been trying to avoid it, but she couldn't anymore...

"What's up with you?" She asked.

"What? What are you talking about? Nothing's up. I'm fine," Chessca rambled out, confirming Sol's fears by her panicked response alone.

The Commander raised an eyebrow, folding her arms as she leaned up against the archway. She wasn't leaving until she had gotten to the root of the problem.

"Tell me what's wrong."

Chessca sighed, standing up as she racked her brain for a quick excuse. "I'm worried about your plans with Rhea and Kane. You know how I feel about it."

She stood up, no intention of moving anywhere, but unable to sit still any longer. As she did, Sol caught a glance of the radio in her hand, and quickly recognising that it wasn't one of The City of Targo's, she was intrigued at where she had gotten it from.

"What's that?"

Chessca's eyes glanced down to where Sol gestured; at first, she thought she was motioning at something behind her, but her heart sunk in her chest when she realised that she was talking about the radio.

"N-nothing," she hid it behind her back, foolishly drawing more attention to it now that Sol knew she wasn't supposed to have seen it. With nothing but an urge to run away, Chessca moved to pass Sol, but the Commander caught hold of her wrist, a little harsher than either of them expected, and the radio was taken from her.

"Riverly-"

Sol stepped away, turning her back so that it would be impossible for her to reclaim possession of the device, and scanned her eyes over it.

"Where did you get this?"

"I just found it. I'll put it back where it came from-"

"You would have just told me it was a radio if it was nothing... Chess, why do you have this? Give me some answers." She hated to have to be the Commander around her, or ever have to demand anything from her, but she felt like she didn't have a choice.
