Episode Seven, Part 2:
Remember That I Love You

You've got a warm heart, you've got a beautiful
brain, but it's disintegrating from all the medicine.

The doors to the medic room opened and Aeryn, Fenn and Chessca hurried in before the Sovereigns, not wasting any time in hurrying over to Sol. Chessca was overwhelmed in relief; it had been the longest time she had ever been without Sol since she left Basilisk, and in that time, her worst fear had come true: Sol didn't remember who she was.

But there was no time for feelings: any reunions or confessions would have to wait until after they got Sol out of The City, or at the very least, out of The Alteration.

So much was going on in the room: Aeryn and Fenn were cautiously approaching Sol with a medical mask, wanting to knock her out with the anesthesia gas as soon as they could. They were nervous to use it - not having much experience of it t Basilisk, but the medic range at Targo wasn't short on any supplies.

Dreea was hurrying to reach her back, pulling out Chessca's book of notes and setting it up for her - not sure if she would need it to complete the procedure or not; and standing beside Atlantis, Kodiak was glancing around the room, suddenly noticing the lack of Wynn's presence beside Sol - who anyone who have expected to be front and centre.

With everyone else preoccupied and Sol finally knocked out cold, Kodiak spotted Wynn sitting on the medic bed at the opposite end of the room, facing away from everyone. He immediately wandered over to his side, unsure why he had isolated himself from Sol when this was what he had been longing for all along. He knew that something must have been really heavy on his heart if he couldn't even bring himself to look at Sol.

"Wynn..." Kodiak murmured, slowly walking around to stand in front of him. "Are you alright?"

Wynn hadn't expected him to come over so he was a little startled to see him there.

"I'm f-"

"You're not fine," Kodiak sighed, cutting him off before he could even finish. "None of us are. Tell me what's on your mind. Tell me why you're not over there right now, standing at her side, holding her hand."

"Because I can't," Wynn answered, looking up at Kodiak in complete vulnerability. " I don't know how... I feel like I can't move."

Kodiak's heart shattered in his chest, knowing that everyone had a limit to how much suffering they could endure, and Wynn was reaching his. In all honesty, Wynn should have reached his limit a long time ago. Sometimes people are brave for too long; it was like a lifetime of courage had already been spent, and Wynn couldn't find anymore inside of himself to face the idea of losing Sol again.

"Look, she remembered parts of me before, parts of Dreea, but you were the one who brought her back," Kodiak said. "She remembered everything because of you, so, whatever you did then, do it again now."

Wynn let out a deep breath, spinning around where he was sitting to glance over at Sol. He didn't know what they were doing to her - it all went completely over his head and it didn't do anything to help with the fear that was suffocating him, but there was something peaceful about her being asleep. Something comforting about knowing she wasn't afraid, or confused, or angry - just like him.

He knew what he had done that made Sol get her memory back; it was just like Chessca had said to them 'a touch, a connection, something consuming'. The kiss had consumed him completely - a connection years in the making... And he wouldn't be able to bear the thought of never experiencing it again...
