Episode Six, Part 6:
No Maps of the Past

How could a heart like yours ever love a heart like mine?

As the evening sky fell heavy with rain, the time to head back into The City had arrived, and everyone had separated, each having their own roles in the rescue mission; Diego was with the Riders in the tunnel, preparing to begin the riot at any given time; Bas was escorting Aeryn and Chessca to another section of the tunnels, hoping to bring them up into the Commander's building once Sol was in their capture; and Wynn and Atlantis were headed to the monitor room in an attempt to disable all of Targo's security.

It left only Dreea and Kodiak to find their way to their friend, crawling through the vents of the building and planning their attack.

Dreea had exited the vent beside Sol's room whilst Kodiak continued the few metres until he reached the opening he had crawled through last time, trying to peek inside through the shutters and determine how many people were inside with Sol, and if they were unarmed.

"I can see Riv," Kodiak whispered into the radio, worried that his voice would echo and project out to them if he wasn't careful. "And there's someone sitting by the door... I think it's Kane. No gun as far as I can tell, but be careful..."

"I will," Dreea replied - Kodiak already unscrewing the bolts on the shutter, ready to jump out at a moment's notice.

"I'm out of the vents now. Once I'm in the hallway, you'll hear the commotion and they'll be distracted by all the noise. That's when you need to step out."

"Got it," Kodiak murmured back, tucking the radio into his waistband and waiting for the signal. Just like Dreea had predicted, there was a series of grunting and crashing noises outside of the door as she fought away all the guardsmen who were outside in the hall. Kodiak would have been worried about her safety, but it was Dreea: she was unstoppable.

He could see the man stand up from his chair, not a doubt in his mind now that it was Kane, and slowly backed towards the centre of the room, wielding his blade out of his pocket. As Sol made her way over to him, uttering questions his way about what was happening to her City, Kodiak pushed on the vent, stepping out and immediately making his presence known.

Though he had his own blade in hand for protection, there was still a part of him that tried to hold onto the belief that Sol would recognise him and realize that he wasn't a threat, but she was gone... Every trace of the girl he called his family was completely erased.

Before either her or Kane could react to his presence, the door to Sol's room was kicked open, swinging to a still as Dreea stood in the doorway, spinning her blade in hand as the pile of bodies could be seen lying behind her.

She tilted her head, narrowing her eyes a little as she glared at Kane slyly. "Missed us?"

Wynn had the door to the monitor room sealed, making it so that no one but him and Atlantis could get inside, or out. She was working at disabling all of the security cameras and automatic locks Rhea had installed on several rooms of The City. It was a tough job to figure out but they were lucky that she had learned her way around computers and programming from her own Bunker's security - which was much more hi-tech than anything at Wynn's Bunker.

The Sovereign was unable to assist in what she was doing, and the only way he could help was by ensuring that they were safe inside. They had tried to door several times to make sure that it wouldn't budge or couldn't be forced open, but Wynn was still insecure about it's security. After all, Targo would have figured out that it was them inside by now, and by any chance that they managed to get inside, he and Atlantis would be killed without hesitation.
