"It's called a hijacking. We dont know how long the Capitol has been doing this to Peeta."

Octavia stood next to Prim, listening grimly to Plutarchs words.

Finnick said he was going to speak with Adriana, as well as Johanna and Annie. He wasn't able to make it, so Octavia made sure she was there to support a traumatized Katniss in any way she could.

"It's fear conditioning, enhanced with tracker jacker venom. You were stung your first games, remember? The venom puts the subject in a dissociative state, made to torture him. Shocks, beatings, stripped down his identity and then all of that suffering and fear is associated with memories, or a person." Beetee explained. Octavia ran a hand down her face, annoyed.

"They can change his memories of Katniss?" Prim asked softly. Octavia placed a gentle hand on her should, a reassuring one.

"To make him seem life threatening," Octavia mumbled, realizing the lengths they went to in order to alter his memories, his thoughts.

"They turned him into a weapon, Katniss. To kill you," Haymitch spoke, fixing his stare on the mockingjay.

"You can reverse it though, right?" Prim asked, looking at Beetee.

"The fear is the most difficult thing to overcome, we're hardwired to remember fear best," Beetee answered, and Octavia let out a loud sigh.

She tuned out the rest of the conversation, focusing on comforting a confused Prim and a scared and disabled Katniss.

"Hey, Jo," Octavia spoke softly to the frail woman in front of her.

"No."

"What?" Octavia asked again, her voice equally kind and soft.

"If you're going to be gentle, and sweet then get out. Thats all anyone had been, even Katniss. I need normalcy," Johannas voice was pleading and frustrated, but Octavia only smirked.

"I was hoping you'd say that," was all she said before beginning to bicker with her friend.

"You should probably go see Finnick," Johanna said randomly. They had been talking for around two hours, joking and arguing.

Octavia snorted, "why?"

"No reason, I just need, um, sleep," Johanna stated, saying it more as a question than a reason.

"Okay.." Octavia laughed, standing from her friends bedside.

She reached her room, or their room if she were being honest. They'd been sharing it ever since they shot the propo together, and it had become theirs.

Finnick was sat on the bed, his face in his hands when she entered.

"Hey, Finn," she mumbled softly, walking over to him.

"Are you okay, love?" She questioned quietly, sitting down next to him.

"W- what, yeah I'm fine," he rushed, standing and running a hand through his hair.
