CHAPTER 9 - Introducing the team

"Ayumi?"

Marui gaped as he saw Ayumi standing in front of him. Her hair swayed with the spring wind, the oversized jacket wrapping her small frame.

"Bunta? What are you doing here?" I questioned, noting the curious glances of the people standing behind him.

"This is where the tennis regulars usually eat at to avoid the fangirls. How about you join us?" Marui explained. I was about to reject his offer when Kirihara dragged me by the arm.

"Ayumi, join us for lunch! These are the senpais that I've been telling you!" Kirihara chirped, as he stopped in front of Yukimura Seiichi. I sighed as I sat down with the rest of the Rikaidai regulars.

"Senpai-tachi, this is the classmate who has been helping me in English! Ayumi, these are the tennis regulars. Yukimura Seichi, the captain, Sanada Genichiro, the vice-captain, Yanagi Renji, the data master, Niou Masaharu, the trickster, Yagyuu Hiroshi, the gentleman, Jackal Kuwahara, a half-Japanese and Marui Bunta, I think you know him?" Kirihara introduced.

I nodded my head as I offered an awkward smile, "Hi, I'm Lei Ayumi. Bunta and I are childhood friends." I noticed the regulars were sending subtle glances to Bunta.

"Yeah, we used to play tennis together and she even won me in games," Marui recalled with a fond smile, looking at me.

"Ah..." I drifted off as I stuffed the rice into my mouth.

"GAH, what is this?!" Kirihara exclaimed, sticking out his tongue. The pungent smell of wasabi drifted into the air. Beside him. Niou snickered. Kirihara then started chasing Niou around as the other regulars started chatting amongst themselves.

Soon the bell rang, signalling the end of lunch break. As I was about to leave, Marui grabbed my wrist. I turned around, observing the determined expression on his face.

"Ayumi, can I talk to you later?"
