My dream soon turned into a nightmare, as what occurred between me and Hikaru Yui played in my head. I woke up from my sleep when I felt Yukimura call out my name softly. I stretched my body, wiping the cold sweat beads that gathered on my forehead, as I watched the bus come to a stop outside the park.
'I wonder how it would be like...meeting her again.' I wondered, as everyone turned to look at Yukimura for some encouragement- although superficial, we all wanted to hear it.
"Show them who's the winners. Rikkaidai never lose." Yukimura's voice resounded in the bus, the short statement replaying in our head.
"RIkkaidai never lose!" We shouted in unison, as our face turned serious. We exited the bus, all of us carrying a different air. There were some who were solemn, some who were cocky and others that were indifferent, but with our jersey, it spoke a united sentence.
Rikkaidai is back for blood.
Murmurs surrounded us, as smaller teams separated and made a path for us. Eyes stared at us, although some cowered in fear when they met Kirihara's glances.
"Who's that girl with them?"
"Did Rikkaidai's standards drop?"
The whispers about me were loud and deafening- all piercing and cutthroat. This was expected as girls were never seen as an equal, and would always be substandard compared to a guy. It was only through crushing them, making sure they knew you had the ability, then they would shut up.
"Don't worry. Show them why you're worthy to join our team." Yukimura said as he noted my fist that was clenched together. His eyes glinted at the people who spoke, effectively stopping them from speaking. Yukimura's blazing eyes betrayed the calm expression on his face, the fury was peeking through the mask of his facade.
The other regulars, especially Kirihara, hissed at the bystanders who were insulting me. They shuddered before running away. 'Good boy.' Yukimura mused as we continued on our way.
We entered the courts, noticing the other team- Oura High. They stopped stretching and looked at us. We gave them a fleeting glance before settling down at our spot to warm up.
My eyes met Hikaru Yui's and both of us looked away. She started flirting with the captain, Miyoshi Sato and he too- glanced at me with a smirk. I felt uncomfortable and looked away, focusing my thoughts on exercising.
"Oura High. Rikkai Dai Fuzoku Chuu. Please make your way to the courts." The referee announced as we walked into the courts for a handshake.
"You came back? I'm surprised." A cocky voice jeered. I looked at Hikaru Yui who was mocking me.
"You joined tennis too. Your team...fits you." I sassed back, feeling my hands that were clenched together turn clammy.
I didn't want to look weak in front of her, the person who ruined tennis for me.
