Astrid POV
Crap. I'm late for school!
Calm down Astrid, just a few more days and you won't have to wake up so early anymore.
I'm in my senior year and graduation is in a few days. Monday to be exact. I can't wait! I'll be out of this Hell hole of a town soon after that. Or should I say Helheim if I were in my house.
I looked at my watch as I sprinted down the road, towards school. Shit, I'm already 5 minutes late. Miss Norbury's gonna kill me! This is the third time this week.
I burst through the school doors and ran down the hallway to my first period. I have calculus now. I think... Fudge it, if it's the wrong classroom I'm anyway never gonna see them after graduation anymore, so I don't have to worry about humiliating myself.
I shoved the door open and stepped inside the classroom. Miss Norbury was standing in front of the classroom while writing down an equation on the board. My best friend, Somaya, "Stormi", was sitting next to an empty seat reserved for me.
Her nickname is kinda ironic. Somaya's name means calm and peaceful but she is legit the opposite of that. She has a short temper and is crazy. But the good kind of crazy. She doesn't care what other people think and if someone stood her up or made a snide remark, well... Let's just say she has comebacks for DAYS! So, I called her one day "Stormi" after an incident and it stuck.
"Oh, Miss Hofferson, I'm so glad you could join us today," Miss Norbury sarcastically remarked.
"Sorry Miss Norbury, my bicycle tire went flat," I lied horribly but without hesitation.
"Well this is the fourth time this week that you are late, so it's detention this afternoon for you, young lady," Miss Norbury said smirking.
Four times? Seriously? Uuuhg, I guess I should've seen that coming.
"But ma'am, I have my martial arts lesson this afternoon and I can't miss it!" I tried to protest but I knew I would lose.
"I'm sorry Astrid, but no excuses. This will teach you to not come late for my lesson again. Now take a seat and let me continue with the lesson you very rudely interrupted," she said giving me a victorious smirk.
That snake disliked me ever since I was a student here in Fairbanks high. She always tries to punish me every chance she gets. She's one of those young and pretty teachers who hang out with the popular kids like she is still a student. And like every other popular girl she tries to bring down the girls who couldnt care less about her. Namely me and Stormi.
I sat down next to Stormi and took my calculus book, grumbling to myself.
"At least we'll be detention buddies," Stormi whispered.
"What did YOU do?" I said, a grin forming. I already kind of suspected what happened.
"There was an...incident in the hall with Ashley," she looked meaningfully at me.
I chuckled under my breath. Wish I was there.
"Did she also at least get detention?" I asked.
"Luckily the snake wasn't there so she'll be with us in detention" she said, referring to Miss Norbury.
"Didn't have her besti to back her up, huh?" I grinned like mad.
"Miss Hofferson and Miss Duval! Would you like detention tomorrow as well? I'm sure we can arrange detention on a Saturday" Miss Norbury shouted.
"No ma'am," I said rolling my eyes.
I stared at my calculus book and tried to concentrate. I gotta ace these finals. If not, Im probably gonna only manage to get into a community college.
Finally the bell rang and everyone filed out of the classroom. I walked towards my locker, fetching my English books.
As I was about to close my locker door, a boy came and leant against the lockers beside mine.
He's handsome with blue eyes and dusty blonde hair. He is the captain of the football team and the most popular guy in school.
And sooooo annoying!
Uuhg."Sup gorgeous?" He smiled at me flirtously.
I sighed,"Oh hey, Ethan"
"Heard you got detention today. Happen to also have detention. Wanna hang afterwards?" He said full of confidence.
How the hell does he know?! This is stalking! And creepy.
"Sorry I got a thing... umm... karate lessons! Yup, can't miss them! Bummer, really..."
I am a lousy liar. Should really brush up on my lying skills.
"Ha ha ha, very funny milady. I know as a fact that your karate lesson is during detention, so you're gonna miss it."
He sighed and looked at me seriously. Wow, never knew he could manage that. Respect.
"What can I do to make you go on a date with me to see what a great guy I am? And realise what you're missing," he said while gesturing to himself.
The respect might as well just get shredded in the paper shredder down the hall. And then burned to the ground.
"Hmmmm..." I said pretending to think about.
"Well there is one thing you could do..." I said while leaning forward and looking flirtously at him.
"Anything," Ethan said smiling as he came closer.
"Well if you say so..." I said my lips millimetres from his.
I abruptly pulled away and slammed my locker closed with a loud bang: "Then stop stalking me and leave me alone!"
I turned around and walked away, a tiny smile on my lips. I would turn around to see his reaction but he might think I was just joking. Which I wasn't.
I mean, why can't he just hit on one of the cheerleaders or something?
Ashley can have him!
That bitch.~AN~
