Astrid POV

We're all sitting on the couches in the living room. My parents are sitting across from us, starting to tell us their side of the story.

To be honest, I have no cooking clue of what the fudge is happening. Somehow Hiccup and the others have met mom and dad but I don't know how. From what Hiccup told me, they live nowhere close to here.

"It all happened when Astrid was just three years old," mom started talking, more to the others than to me WHO STILL DOESN'T HAVE THE FOGGIEST IDEA OF WHAT'S HAPPENING!

"We thought we'd take a small family trip together, so we decided to visit different islands across the Archipelago. We traveled to Bezerker island, Melody island (Huge mistake! We  narrowly escaped the Death Songs) and many more!" Dad continued, animatedly telling the tale.

What islands are these? What kinds of names do they have? And the Archipelago? They've been there? And what the hell is a Death Song? Uhg, everything is going too fast.

"Our last stop was the Defenders of the Wing island," mom said. "We came upon this clearing. It was perfectly round. I personally love historic artifacts so I immediately tried to decipher the runes on the boulder. Unfortunately, as I read out the words we were suddenly surrounded by a flash of light. Next thing we knew, we appeared here out of nowhere. Did you children experience the same?"

Hiccup, Fishlegs, Snotlout and the twins nodded in unison.

"Yeah," Hiccup whispered. "Exactly like that!"

"You won't like what we're going to say next but, like it or not, you need to know," dad said gravely. "It took us a few days to realise what happened and where we were. So basically, we discovered that we are in a complete different world. An alternate universe, is our guess."

They watched us with bated breath and studied our expressions. Hiccup and the gang looked shocked to the point where Fishlegs ran outside and puked onto the flowerbed.

"A-a-alternate universe?" Hiccup stammered.

"I'm afraid so. This world is also far more developed than ours back home. About one thousand years ahead of our world, to be exact," mom explained.

"What date is it?!" Hiccup asked.

"It's Friday, the 24th of July 2020," dad said.

"But... It's only 1002 AD at home. Oh my Thor, did we time travel?" Hiccup asked, his face pale.

"No, no, no, as we said earlier, we just traveled to an alternate dimension. The worlds just run at different time periods," dad reassured them.

They all sighed with relief and they sank back into the sofa.

"So how do we get back then?" Fishlegs asked who was listening from the open doorway.

Mom and dad looked at each other sadly.

"Unfortunately, we've been searching for a solution everywhere but nothing so far. And its been fifteen years. I don't think there is much we can do anymore," dad said, lowering his head.

The gang looked at them horrified and frozen in shock. Fishlegs bended over to puke again and Hiccup placed his head in his hands.

"I am so sorry," mom said, sympathetically. "You are too young to be experiencing this."

I barely heard anything after my parents mentioned alternate universes. I just sat there and stared at the wall. Have my parents gone insane?! Has everyone gone insane?! Have I?!
