Lisbon's POV
She heard her name... 'I'm looking for Agent Lisbon... delivery'. The mail room clerk was coming towards her with 3 medium sized boxes. She gestured her location and he dropped the boxes by her desk.
Teresa was tired. Exhausted actually. The bullpen was busy with the usual energy of an active case and she couldn't focus – which wasn't like her. She knew why too... the bane of her existence for more than a decade now, was sitting behind her on his couch reading and drinking tea seemingly happy as a clam. That was Jane though... always aloof and a giant thorn in her side.
"Intriguing, Lisbon," she heard him say behind her. "What's in the boxes?"
"I don't know," she said confused as she grabbed the delivery slip to see who it was from. 'Dammit' – it was Stan. She told him to send that to her apartment, not her office.
She dialed his number. "It's me. Why did you send the boxes to my office, Stan? I gave you my home address?... What? What do you mean it wouldn't come up in the system?... Well how did you find this one?... Oh, okay, well thanks I guess... No, I'm sorry... Yeah, okay. I love you to. Bye."
"So, what's in here?" asked Jane lifting the first box to test its weight. His movement released the scent of his cologne in the air beside her – he smelled so good. She allowed his scent to wash over her for a moment, then gave her head a shake.
"Personal stuff..." she said slapping his hand away.
"Uhmmm... c'mon, let's have a look inside. It's boring in here today with all the paperwork. I'm thinking memorabilia from your youth maybe?" he guessed looking at her for her reaction. She hated when he did that... always trying to read her and she wasn't thinking about the contents of that box right now and she felt the heat of a blush start to grow. Dammit.
Agent Fischer stopped by her desk at that moment and thankfully distracted him. Jane refocused his attention and roped her into his quest to open the box. He was also flirting with Kim which annoyed her. Kim was giggling at his witty comments and she had to suppress an eye roll. Why did she care? She groaned internally. Kim started recounting the time her parents sent her boxes of her stuff a few years ago and how much fun it had been to go through her old memories. Lisbon finally gave in just, so she wouldn't have to continue watching the display between Jane and Kim. She told Jane he could only open one box. He gave her his megawatt smile that made her smile back in return and forget her irritation from seconds ago. She hated that he had that power over her... always did. 'You won't regret this' he said and tapped her desk with his fingers. She knew she would – so she braced herself.
The box that Jane picked had some soccer medals, gymnastics trophies, spelling bee certificates and mementos. Some of the stuff she remembered, then some she didn't. Then Jane grabbed a heartthrob magazine and she immediately remembered what was inside and she yanked it from his hands.
She flipped through the pages quickly until she saw what she was looking for and snapped it back shut with an excited smile.
"Lisbon... spill... what was that?" asked Jane teasingly, his blue eyes searching her face.
Kim was also looking at her with interest. "Yeah... spill," she said with a smile.
Jane leaned his hip on her desk and looked at her quizzically with a huge smile and Kim sat in the chair in front of her desk, both eager for a story. He rested his hand on her desk and leaned in to see her face. She found him irresistible when he turned on his boyish charm, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to share this particular story.
"Waiting..." said Jane, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
