Lisbon's POV
"Do you think he knows that I was in here?" she asked.
"Yes. He's not an idiot... besides the fact that your phone was on the picnic table and he'd already been to your place, he was also staring at my neck which I'm guessing has huge hickey on it," he answered with a chuckle. "He didn't say anything, but I'm sure he knows. What's the big deal anyway. It's just Cho."
"Oh god. How embarrassing," she said to herself as she looked at her phone messages.
"Embarrassing?" he said. "That's a strange way to put it. What's embarrassing Lisbon? We're adults."
"You know what I mean..." she said looking for her missing shoe. "Help me find my shoe. I have to call a cab and get to HQ." Abbott had messaged her that she needed to be at HQ as soon as possible.
"A cab? Why a cab? I can drive you in," he said handing her the missing shoe.
"We can't go in together! It's bad enough that I'm wearing the same clothes as yesterday. Oh god! Cho knows. He knows," she wined. "This is bad."
"..."
"Why aren't you getting ready. Abbott wants us in now... it's a 9-1-1 or Cho wouldn't have come to find us," she said.
She dialed the cab company and got a 5-minute ETA – perfect.
"Jane? Why aren't you moving?" she asked again, but this time she got a good look at his face and he looked upset.
"Why are you embarrassed that Cho knows about us?" he asked evenly.
"What?" she said.
"Don't answer my question with a question. Are you embarrassed to be with me?" he asked again.
"What- No? I mean, it's just- we're not together, together. We don't even know what 'this' is. I just don't want everybody knowing my business until we have time to talk and figure this out," she explained.
"Figure what out? I'm pretty clear on what is going on between us. What do you need to figure out?"
"Jane, you can't be seriously wanting to talk about this now?"
"Figure what out Lisbon?"
"It's not the time!"
"It is the time. I want to know."
"For god sakes Jane! We had sex last night, that's all! I don't even know how you feel about me or... how I feel about you or if we even want the same things. You're as closed off as ever! I'm going to D.C. in less than two weeks. That's what I mean. For all I know, last night could have been a big mis-" she stopped the word as it slipped on her tongue but not in time.
"A mistake – that's what you think? I see... And you have NO IDEA how I feel about you? You think I just jump into bed with just anybody?"
"You screwed Lorelei without a problem," she said with jealous venom.
"Nice one Lisbon," he said. "Nice one."
She heard the cab honking.
"There's your cab... you don't want to miss it," he said with a grimace. "And don't worry about figuring things out. We're over," he said and grabbed his shirt and headed in the washroom.
She sat in the cab unbelieving what just happened. She could feel the tears behind her eyes, but she couldn't cry. How did everything go so wrong?
