Jane's POV
Lisbon was quiet. This new intimacy between them needed some getting used to. Lovers had different expectations than partners or even friends and he wasn't sure where Teresa's expectations fell since they'd been all three to each other now. Something was bothering her, but she didn't want to talk about it. And he didn't want to rock the fragile boat they were on. Last night was not part of his plans – it was quite unexpected, but he was happy it happened.
A sudden perfunctory knock resounds in the trailer. Lisbon looks at him wide-eyed mouthing 'Who's that?' and he shrugs. He waves her to move to the back of the trailer and he waits until she's in the bathroom. Jane pulls on his pants and opens the door.
"Cho... what a surprise," he says loud enough to alert Lisbon and walks out.
"Woah, Jane... where's the rest of your clothes?" asked Cho.
"I'm in the middle of getting ready. Why are you here?" he asked feeling very uncomfortable being half dressed in front of his colleague.
"You're not answering your phone. Abbotts needs you at HQ pronto. It's an emergency," he says.
Jane's confused because he didn't hear his phone ring or vibrate.
"Ah – I don't even know where my phone is right now. But I know that I didn't hear it ring. Maybe it died somewhere. Well – thanks for coming and letting me know. I will be in straight away," he said with too much conviction.
Cho clears his throat loudly. "Have you seen or heard from Lisbon? She's also MIA and not answering her phone," he said staring him in the eyes with his usual Robocop stare.
Jane nodded 'no' and said 'No – no idea,' at the same time. He was blowing this. Then a phone started vibrating on his picnic table and as much as he hoped Cho wouldn't notice it, he did.
"That's Lisbon's phone and that's probably Abbott calling," he said with his poker face.
"She must have forgotten it yesterday. I'm sure she's home-" he started.
"I already went there. No response. Look, if you see her, give her the message," he said with raised eyebrows.
Jane nodded and smiled. He grabbed Lisbon's phone and went back in the trailer. He wasn't expecting to find Lisbon dressed and frantic when he walked back in.
"Calm down – it was just Cho," he said laughing.
"It's not funny Jane!" she said. "Not everything is a joke!"
