"jeongguk! jeongguk!" exclaimed hani as she entered her older brother's room with excitement, "do you like it?"
jeongguk who was writing something at his desk looked up to see his little sister twirling in a new dress with a smile on her face, which he reflected, "it's very pretty," he replied, "are you picking dresses?"
hani stopped spinning and walked to her brother, "yup, mother wants me to have a new gown for the ball tomorrow."
"ah," jeongguk said, "are you picking this one?"
hani nodded, "if jeongguk says it's pretty then i should pick this one."
jeongguk smiled at his little sister's response.
"miss," said a servant of hani's, "we should go change into your play clothes." hani nodded then waved jeongguk a goodbye before leaving.
jeongguk sighed, "i should be looking for a suit as well," he mumbled then checked his wrist watch. he cleaned up his desk then got up from his desk and left his room, "yoongi," he said to his personal servant, "bring the car around, i want to visit the town to find a suit."
"yes sir," yoongi said and left.
"jeongguk!" hani called after him, making him stop and turn around, "what is it hani?" he asked.
"can i go with you to town?" she asked, "i haven't been for a long time."
jeongguk nodded, "sure thing," he said. hani smiled and rushed down to join her brother.
—
"hani? where have you been?" asked the queen once jeongguk and hani entered the castle doors, "we went out to pick a suit for jeongguk," hani said with a lollipop in her hand, "jeongguk will look amazing at the ball."
jeongguk and the queen smiled, "of course he will," the queen said, "now hani you should go get showered and ready for dinner." hani nodded and rushed upstairs.
"jeongguk," his mother spoke up before he headed to his room, "you have your speech ready for tomorrow, right?" jeongguk nodded, "yes, it's completed i am just memorizing it."
"good," his mother said and let him head up to his room.
—
the day came for the ball.
everyone in the busan castle was busy. the queen and king took care of the dinner utensils and what is to be served. the servants were busy with the decorations of blue and white, the colours of their flag.
"jimin," said the king, "are you ready for tonight?"
jimin nodded, "dad," he asked, "do we really have to throw a ball for something like this?"
"of course!" interjected the queen, "for something as big as two kingdoms soon to be together, we must celebrate."
"what if there is no union?" jimin asked which brought shock to his parents.
"what do you mean?" asked the queen stepping forth, "jimin, what are you thinking?"
"i mean," jimin said a bit nervously, "i am aware we are only fulfilling a promise that grandfather had with the jeon's grandfather that the family will be united one day, but why now? why not my child? why didn't—"
"jimin," his father said, "we can talk about this after the wedding. now, just don't ruin anything," the queen and king left to take care of the ball, leaving jimin to his thoughts.
—
"oh my hani looks like a young lady," the queen said fondly as she hugged her daughter, the king smiled beside his wife, "yes, hani is growing up." hani smiled.
"don't grow up too fast," jeongguk said with a smile, "jeongguk looks good too," hani said turning her attention to her brother, "jeongguk is so handsome."
"i agree," said his mother, "he looks very handsome."
the king nodded, "he surely got his looks from me," he joked then quickly revived a slap on his chest by the queen, "tsk."
hani and jeongguk laughed.
"come on," the queen said, "lets go get going and head over now, we will be late if we don't get going now."
