"what the fuck happened dad?" i exasperated, barging into his room. i crossed my arms.
it was not a pleasant sight to see your dad having bandages everywhere. "you were drunk driving dad!" i cried, not letting him a chance to answer my first question.
"emily. i saw her." he whispered. i stopped walking and gave him a bewildered look.
"mom is dead! get over it!" i cried again. the words were weird in it felt like it was just forced to come off my tongue.
his face had a look of uncertainty. "she was dancing with another guy lily, you have to believe me." he tried.
"look dad, she's dead. you saw a girl who looks like her and you were upset." i broke it down to him.
he nodded but he still wasn't buying it, i know. "you were drunk driving. you hit another person with your problems!" then i was back to base one again.
being vulnerable. it wasn't a thing i was fond of now. i hated showing weakness to everyone––so they could step and pick on me.
"he has a worse case than yours." my breath hitched slightly. if he's found guilty in court then i would have no one to be with. i'm all alone again.
he nodded and smiled. "i deserve this, lily. i'm facing the consequences of everything i did wrong. it was meant to be."
i have so many questions that were forming in my head to ask him. what did he do wrong? was it really mom he saw? where will i stay with a legal guardian?
"miss? visiting hours for mornings is now over. come back later at 4 pm to see your father." the nurse politely said.
i smiled at her and nodded. i left the room with a hundred questions popping inside my mind.
