An few hours later, after leaving the arcade Finn pulled the truck up at the end of a dirt track that seemed to turn into a small path, i guess we'll be walking the rest of the way. I wasn't sure where we were, i had never been in this part of Cold Water before. I walked behind Finn as he made his way up the narrow path, that seemed to go on forever and from what i can remember of the cabin, it sat right at the top of the hill, meaning we had a long walk ahead of us.
The tree branches scrapped at my bare arms, like long talons and the air was cold as we made our way, deeper into the woods. The path was starting to get harder to see, it obviously hadn't been used in years and with all the storms we're had over the years, there were branches all over the place. I struggled to keep up with Finn as he walked ahead of me, i tripped and stumbled over the roots that were buried under the fallen leaves.
I court my foot on a hidden rock and stumbled forwards, catching my self on a nearby branch, slicing my palm as i grabbed a hold of it. "SHIT." I yelled, as it sliced through my skin, leaving a huge gash across my palm.
"You alright?" Finn asked, rushing towards me. He had that same look of worry in his eyes as always but that was quickly pushed aside, when he noticed me staring. He looked at my hand and pulled out a small tissue, passing it to my. "Keep it covered and apply some pressure, it's not to deep so you should be OK."
"Thanks." I said, as i walked past him. I wasn't sure why but he had been off since we left the arcade, i didn't know if it had anything to do with Ace or the place we were going to but i knew he wasn't OK.
After an hour of walking, we finally arrived at the door to the old cabin. It was over grown and the roof was caving in on one side, it bought back memory's of my father. He knew he was going to die a pain full death, yet he never gave up. He held on to his pride, till the very end and that's how i choose to remember him.
I waited outside while Finn looked around to double check there were no traps or other people here but from what we could see, no one had been here for years. "You ready?" He said, breaking me out of my thoughts.
All i could do was nod, i was shaking from head to toe and i couldn't control my breathing. Images of my father kept rushing through my mind, his limp body hanging in the chair as that monster tore into him. I had been the one to make Finn show me what had happened but now i was starting to regret it, whenever i think of him the images of that night play over and over in my head. That's not how i want to remember him.
"Hey. Hey, look at me." Finn said as he cupped my face with his hands, "Sit down and take deep breaths, look if you want to wait out here you can but i'm not sure how easy it will be to find and i don't really want to leave you out here alone."
"I'm fine, j..just give me a minute to catch my breath." I wasn't fine but we needed to find that box and i wasn't just going to sit here and let Finn do all the work. "I'm OK now, lets just get this over with."
I walked up to the cabin door that was barely standing, i pushed on it lightly and without effort it came crashing down around us. I looked at Finn, who looked worried but he didn't do anything he just nodded at me and i made my way inside.
Inside it was dark, night was starting to set in bringing a creepy vibe to what was already a haunting building. The only light we had was from the small holes that covered the walls and the small flash light i had on my phone but neither were doing very much. Wood and plants covered the floor, a rotten sofa and chair sat in the middle of the room, the same chair my father had died in, Which meant no one had been here since that fateful day.
We made our way over to the stair case, the whole center of the stairs had caved on leaving a huge hole that seemed to lead to an old basement. Finn jumped over first then pulled me up as i jumped over the hole, the whole cabin creaked and wailed as the wind picked up out side. I kept thinking, any minute now the whole place was going to come crumbling down but still we made our way to the small room that sat at the end of the corridor.
