I felt so small sitting next to him. Everything about him was so overpowering it seemed as though if I were to melt away no one would notice. He was more than just the man who had taken me from my father. He was more than my mate. He was an Alpha of a pack of hundreds and it was here, in this moment that I could see why.

He was strong, powerful, confident. Levi was someone that could never go unnoticed. He was beautiful in a way that demanded to be seen. I looked around at the faces of those on the other side of the room. There were three in total and all were quiet and serious as Levi talked. Their gazes were clear, focused and I could see the respect for Levi shining in their eyes.

The woman that had pulled me into the room was animatedly discussing conflicts that had arisen with Levi while the other two men beside her listened intently. She had dark skin and waist length cornrows coupled with what seemed to be golden eyes that shimmered every time she blinked. To her left was a man with flaming red hair and pale skin littered with freckles. His green eyes were friendly but I could tell his looks were deceiving with how his muscles bulged every time he moved. The last man had hair so dark it seemed as though he would be able to blend into the shadows if he wanted to. He looked to be the most quiet and reserved and his blue eyes were intense and cold as they locked on mine.

I hurriedly glanced away and turned my gaze towards my lap, twiddling my thumbs as I fought away the blush that was creeping onto my face. I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that I hadn't noticed my name being called until I felt a hand on my thigh and I looked up to find Levi staring at me.

"Are you alright?" he questioned. I nodded and he smiled softly at me before turning back towards the others who were curiously watching our interaction. He intertwined our fingers and I let out a sigh at the heat that spread through my body.

"This is your Luna and you will treat her with the utmost respect. If any harm is to come to her it will be your asses I come after for letting it happen. Am I understood?" His eyes blazed with fury and the threat hung in the air before it was followed by a chorus of "yes, alpha" from the three on the couch.

I glanced at them to see they were all staring at me. The woman grinned at me, dimples making their way onto her face. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Luna. My name is Leila Belmont and I'm the Beta. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions regarding the pack or if you just want to get away from the Alpha's grumpy ass."

She winked at me and Levi growled before the man with flaming hair spoke up. "Well, my name is August O'Connor and I'm the Gamma."

I gave him a small nod and his eyes crinkled as he smiled. The last man was still peering intently at me and I shuffled under his gaze, uncomfortable with the intensity of his stare. "I'm Alexander, the Head Warrior."

I tightly gripped Levi's hand and he gave mine a small squeeze. I looked at him for assurance before flickering my gaze towards the other side of the room. "M-my name is Rain Bennett."

Everyone's eyes widened and even Levi stared at me in shock. Confusion began wrapping itself around my chest and I could feel my heart throb as I pictured the rejection that was sure to come. Why else would they be staring at me like that? No one said anything until Leila broke the silence with a whisper. "Well damn, I didn't expect that."

The door burst open just as she finished speaking and I felt my body constrict in fear. Standing in the doorway was none other than the man who had dragged me out of the house. "Whoops, sorry for being so late. Border patrol took longer than I thought."

His eyes were on Leila, Augustus, and Alexander. He hadn't seen me yet and I could feel my heart pounding, begging for me to run away before he could get to me. My throat began closing up and my lungs were no longer functioning. Ice flooded my veins and I felt as though I was underwater, watching everything move in slow motion. I was choking on my lack of oxygen and my vision blurred with the tears that were forcing their way to the surface. I felt the urge to curl up into myself and disappear like my father had always wished for but Levi gripped my chin and forced me to look at him.

His eyes were desperately searching mine as he comforted me. "Just keep your eyes on me, Rain. I'm not going anywhere. Tell me what's wrong so I can help you. Please. . . I can't bear seeing you like this and not knowing how I can help."

At Levi's words I could feel all the warmth sap from the room as everyone's eyes landed on us. I could feel the man's eyes watching my every movement and I wondered if he recognized me.

I tried to open my mouth to speak but all that escaped my lips were broken sobs and whimpers. My body trembled as Levi pulled me into his lap and I buried my face into his chest, seeking the comfort of the coffee and sunshine that reminded me of home.

"Hey, wait a second. I recognize you. You're that rogue I locked in a cell." His voice grated against my ears as he came closer, his footsteps clicking against the wooden floor. "How the hell did you get out, runt?"

Levi's chest rumbled as he growled. He was shaking with anger and I pressed myself against him, hoping he would calm down. He gently pushed me away and set me in my chair before standing up and facing the man. "I would advise you to shut your mouth, Lucas."

Lucas was unfazed and proceeded to make his way towards me. "Don't worry, Alpha. I'll be sure to put the bitch back where she belongs."

His insults struck a chord in me as my mind flooded with memories of my father. The moment I was thrown into the pack prison, my name was quickly replaced with crude words and I no longer found a need to remember it when all I would ever be called was rogue, runt, or bitch.

I stood up on shaky legs and stumbled away from him, tears slipping down my face and splashing onto the hardwood floor, creating puddles of memories I couldn't swim fast enough to get away from. Lucas reached out to grab me and I flinched and quickly clenched my eyes shut but was met with nothing but a light breeze as something rushed past me.

I opened my eyes to see Lucas being pinned against the wall by Levi and my heart leaped into my throat as an image of me being choked my Lucas entered my mind. My eyesight began clouding and desperate gasps fell from my lips. The only thing I could hear was the blood rushing through my veins and someone faintly whispering my name. I collapsed to the ground and my head swirled before I was met with darkness.
