The hospital doors burst open once the people inside saw that Levi and I were coming closer. I knew he could feel my eyes on him but his lack of acknowledgment made me want to ask him to put me down so that I could make my way there myself but the words wouldn't fall from my lips. His touch no longer felt welcoming, I only felt pangs of loneliness at the blatant rejection from the one person I wanted most.

I didn't know what I had done to make Levi upset but it hurt knowing that he couldn't even stand looking at me. Melissa was in her usual attire as she greeted us and she hastily led us to the room once she saw Levi's dark expression.

Levi placed me down on the bed and retreated away from me to sit on one of the plastic chairs, his gaze fixated on the tiled floor. Melissa examined my ankle but my mind didn't register the pain since I was so busy staring at Levi and wondering what I had done wrong.

She quickly left the room after finishing her examination, stating that she would be back, leaving Levi and me alone.

He had an empty look plastered on his face but I could sense the anger radiating off of him. His hands were clenched to the point where his knuckles were turning white and my heart squeezed at how far away he seemed despite the fact that we were only a few feet apart.

My nails were digging into my palm with how distressed I was at his indifference and I was seconds away from splitting the skin. I welcomed any pain that could distract me from the fact that Levi no longer wanted me. "What did I do wrong? Why won't you look at me?"

The silence was stifling as I waited for his response. It seemed like hours before Levi's jaw ticked and he muttered, "Why don't you want me to train you?"

My eyebrows rose in surprise and my mouth fell open as I blurted, "There must be a reason why you trusted Alexander with me and I trust your judgment. You asked him to train me and there's no reason for him to stop doing so all because I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings and hurt myself."

Levi's tense shoulders eased and I gently added, "I didn't want you to think of me as weak. I know you have other responsibilities outside of taking care of me and I didn't want to be even more of a distraction than I have been these past two weeks."

"I'm sorry I got angry. I was jealous," he admitted, letting out a harsh breath.

Relief filled my body at how his darkened expression softened as his eyes made their way to lock on mine. Both of our clenched fists loosened and he pushed himself off the chair and came over to sit beside me on the bed.

His eyebrows furrowed as he went to grab my hand and saw the red crescent marks on my palm. He rubbed them in an attempt to soothe my pain and I relaxed into his touch, grateful that his anger seemed to have disappeared.

"You were jealous?" I tilted my head to the side, a confused look on my face. "Why would you be jealous?"

Levi used his free hand to run it through his brown locks as he sighed, giving me a pained look. "I thought you would rather be with him over me."

I opened my mouth to speak but he cut me off. "I know I said it was your choice whether or not you want to leave me but now that you're here, I don't know if I have it in me to let you go."

His eyes were solemn and pleading, I could see a grin tugging at his lips. "Besides, you're my favorite distraction, one that I can't live without."

A blush bloomed on my cheeks as his hands desperately clutched mine. I gave them a tentative squeeze before letting go and wrapping my arms around his neck. He pulled me into his lap, resting his head against my shoulder. "There's no reason for me to choose Alexander when I have you, Levi. You're it for me."

Levi kept silent, rubbing circles on my waist and pressing gentle kisses to my collarbone, making me shiver. I inched my body closer to him so my chest was pressed against his and I could feel his every breath and his heartbeat echoing in tune with mine. My legs wrapped themselves around his waist, heat spreading like a wildfire throughout my body. I brushed my lips against the side of his neck and he gave a strangled gasp, pulling away, "Rain, I- Goddess, the things you do to me."

The door clicked open and I instinctively flinched away from him but Levi kept his grip on my hips. "Stay," he lowly whispered.

He shifted our bodies so we were now facing Melissa who was holding a bag of ice in her hand. She didn't seem fazed by our position. "I'm sorry for the delay. There was a child who needed my care." She handed the ice bag to Levi who tenderly pressed it to my ankle and I shuddered at the coldness. "It should heal in about a week since the sprain is mild. Just make sure you don't put pressure on it."

I murmured a quiet thank you and she nodded and went on her way. I turned back towards Levi who was looking at me with a mischievous look in his eyes as he came closer. "Now, where were we?"
