"It's time to wake up, little moon."
I let out a little mumble of disapproval, but the voice kept on persisting. "Come on, we're going to be late for training."
I buried my head in the soft pillow and pulled the blanket tighter over my body. My movements were stopped once soft hands pinned my own above my head and gentle kisses began pressing all over my face. Light giggles escaped me and I pried my tired eyes open, grinning up at Levi.
"Hi," I whispered.
"Hey," he laughed, pecking my forehead and letting go of my wrists so I could push myself up.
I rubbed at my sleepy eyes and asked, "What time is it?"
"It's seven," he replied, watching with amusement as my eyes widened in shock.
"Seven?" I gasped. "Oh no. Why didn't you wake me up earlier?"
I hurried to the closet and browsed for my usual workout gear before slipping into the bathroom to change, Levi's laughter trailing after me. "I tried but you refused to wake up. Plus, you look cute when you're sleeping."
Scarlet bloomed on my cheeks at his comment and I quickly shut the door behind me before he could point out my blush. I did my morning routine and rushed out, bumping into Levi who quickly wrapped his arms around me so I wouldn't fall. I tilted my head up so I could look at him and he began smoothing down my messy hair.
"All done?" he questioned.
I nodded and we began making our way downstairs, heading towards the kitchen. "Levi?"
He hummed in response and I continued, "Why don't we just eat breakfast after we finish training? Alexander is probably wondering where we are."
Levi bristled once he heard Alexander's name and his tone hardened. "No, you need to eat now or else you won't have the energy."
Sensing the anger in his voice, I gave his hand a light squeeze and mumbled, "Okay."
He made our usual bowls of oatmeal and we eased into our routine of me stopping once I was full and him coaxing me to eat a few more bites. Once he was satisfied, we made our way to the training field.
I was radiating with pent up energy after having spent so much time in bed to rest my sprained ankle. Everyone was busy training and paid no heed to us save for a few nods here and there. There were some that were fighting in wolf form and I couldn't help but gasp as I watched them lunge at each other, biting and tearing mercilessly only to heal in seconds and begin the cycle again.
Two familiar forms were off to the side and watching us as we came closer. Alexander was as brooding as always but for a moment I thought I saw the briefest flicker of a smile on his face but when I blinked it was gone. August looked excited to see us and sported his bright smile.
"Alpha," he nodded. "Luna, it's so great to see you're doing well."
I gave him a small smile and his face brightened even further. I felt Levi squeeze my hand and I looked up to meet his eyes. "I'll be going now. Remember, I'm always a shout away."
Levi pressed a light kiss to my forehead before stepping away and joining August, leaving me alone with Alexander. "Luna," he drawled. "Follow me."
I trailed along but noticed his stride had shortened drastically, making it easier for me to keep up. We were heading towards the area we were in last time and I held back a wince at the thought of having to run laps again.
He stopped abruptly and turned towards me. "Three laps. Go."
"Three laps?" My eyes widened but relief filled me at the decrease in amount.
He cocked an eyebrow. "Would you like me to add more?"
I shook my head and immediately began my slow jog. This time I cautiously kept my gaze on the grass to make sure there was nothing I could trip over. The sun was relentless in its heat and each marker seemed to get farther and farther away. Sweat clung to my skin and my lungs gasped for air and after what seemed like hours, I finally collapsed onto the grass.
Alexander wordlessly walked over from where he was leaning on a tree and handed me a water bottle, watching as I greedily gulped it down.
"Thank you," I panted, wiping at my forehead with the back of my hand. The long sleeve shirt I had on wasn't really a good idea considering how it was now drenched in sweat but the thought of anyone seeing my scars sent a wave of anxiety through me. I was far from ready to let anyone other than Levi see my scars and even then, he had yet to see the extent of what had been done to me.
"Drop and give me twenty push-ups."
I snapped out of my exhaustion to look up at Alexander. "Push-ups?"
He gave a sigh before getting on his knees and demonstrating how to correctly do a push-up. His muscles flexing as he pushed himself up and brought himself down. Once he did five, he sat back on his knees and he fixed his gaze back on me. I took that as my cue to begin starting and copied his position. My arms began to shake before even going down and I was sure I looked pathetic just holding myself in place.
"Move your butt down," I blushed at that and hoped my face was flushed enough from my exhaustion that it didn't make a difference but lowered my butt which only worsened my trembling. "Shift your hands closer to your body."
I tried to follow his instructions but my shaking made it impossible to move without falling. "Here," he reached out a hand to grasp at my wrist but I flinched and threw my body back so I was sitting on my butt a few feet away.
My body was now trembling but for a completely different reason and from the grim look on Alexander's face, I think he could tell. "I'm sorry," I murmured.
"It's fine," he said. "Try again."
This time he moved back so I could have space and I was grateful that he didn't try and touch me again, simply directing me using his words. I managed to do three barely passable push-ups before I collapsed on myself. I looked up at Alexander with pain written all over my face. "That's it for today, we'll continue tomorrow."
I nodded gratefully and pushed my body up to stretch my aching muscles. "Rain!" I heard someone call. I turned over my shoulder to see Levi striding towards me. I stood up on shaky legs and began walking towards him when a deep voice stopped me in my tracks.
"You did good, Luna." This time I could clearly see a small smile on his face and I gave him a grin in return. "I'll see you tomorrow, Alexander."
I watched as he retreated into the woods before turning back towards Levi, who was almost right behind me.
"Hi," I breathed, slightly self-conscious about my sweaty state as I gazed at his tall form towering over me.
"Hey," he smiled. He brushed away a few strands of hair clinging to my face and tucked them behind my ear. "So, how about that date?"
