Rain's P.O.V.

I gasped, my lungs desperate for air as I continued clawing at his hands. My nails dug into his skin, the droplets of blood glittering brilliantly in the sun, but the confusion on his face remained and his grip refused to falter. The words continued to fall from his lips, an endless flurry of incoherent mumbling.

"W-what happened to her? Where did she go?" he stammered, his eyes wildly searching for a ghost that was nowhere to be found. "What did you do to her, you bitch?"

My vision began filling with black spots and I weakly choked out, "She's gone. She died a long time ago."

"No, no," he growled, he shook his head and his irises flickered between its usual brown and obsidian. His claws dug painfully into the soft skin of my neck and I knew if he exerted any more pressure, I would die. "Tell me where she went. She can't leave me. She's all I have left."

The darkness finally settled in his eyes and I knew it was only a matter of time before the darkness took me too. Time seemed to still and all my senses began numbing. I couldn't hear anymore of his rambling with the ringing in my ears and my hands fell limply to my sides.

Just as my eyes were shutting and I hung limp like a puppet in its case of flesh and bone, the sound of snarls rushed past and the heavy weight pressing down on me lifted. I collapsed against the tree and my body began wracking with coughs and gasps, desperate to fill my lungs with air.

Despite my dulled senses, I could sense the chaos and faintly hear familiar voices calling out for me and asking if I was okay. I blinked away the haziness clouding my eyes to see spots of crimson dotting the grass and a furious Levi on the verge of losing control.

"Rain, help me," my father called, his cold eyes locked on mine as he reached out his hand. "Please, I'm your father."

"Don't look at her," Levi roared, his claws extending as he began ripping up his flesh. The blood pooled around them, soaking into the grass and dirt. "You sick bastard. You'll pay for what you've done."

I saw Alexander in the corner of my eye and he slowly approached me with a furrow in his brows as he examined the state of my body but my gaze was fixed on Levi. My father was now reduced to nothing more than a mangled corpse, sputtering for air and pleading for mercy. But I knew Levi would give him none, my mother may have lived after her death in both of our memories but my father had killed me long ago and that could never be forgiven by Levi.

The Levi in front of me now wasn't the same one that gently brushed back my hair every morning to wake me up. He wasn't the same one that cooked all my meals and watched with a smile as I ate. No, this Levi was the one who was able to take down his father. He was ruthless and unforgiving and his wolf was only fueling his rage.

But, I couldn't find it in me to look away knowing that he was doing this for me. He was mine as I was his and I would never turn my back on him, even more so now that my father was finally getting the punishment he deserved for taking so much away from me. He haunted my sleep and it was hard for me to let any male other than Levi touch me but now that there was a chance to break free from his chains for good, I didn't want to blink in fear that this scene would fade away and I would find myself back in that cell room.

As though he could sense what I was thinking, Levi's dark eyes turned towards me, relief clear on his face but the anger still remained. "Don't look, Rain." His tone was low and it was more beastly than it was the usual Levi but I refused to listen.

Levi nodded towards Alexander, who was the closest to me, and he leaned down to say, "Luna, you shouldn't see this."

"No, I have to," I whispered, my throat burning from the pain. "I need to watch."

The woods were silent as we all waited for the next move. The air buzzed with anticipation as Levi got up and shifted into his wolf, his bones and muscles contorting and the fur sprouting from his skin until he was on all fours. He crouched over my father who was covered in more bruises than I could count and his pleading had long faded to whispers from how much damage Levi did to him.

Just as my father began shifting into his wolf to try and escape, Levi pounced on him and tore his head off, the blood splattering and leaving no inch uncovered. His head was tossed to the side as the pack warriors made way for Levi to get to me.

His wolf approached me and began licking my wounds. The scar that I had come to love stood out against his fur. His dark eyes examined me as I reached out to trace it and he nuzzled his head into my palm.

"I'm back, Levi," I greeted, tears misting my vision. "I missed you."

All the pack members paid their respects before beginning to head back to our pack. I waited until most of them had gone to start getting up, wanting to stay in this moment for just a little longer. Alexander extended a hand to help me up and for a second I faltered, but I knew he meant no harm and so I reached out and took it gratefully.

"Thank you," I murmured, giving him a weak smile which he returned with a nod.

Levi nudged at my leg and gestured towards his back. I took that as a sign he was asking me to get on. I shakily climbed on and buried myself into his fur, wrapping my arms around his neck. I breathed in his scent and choked on the relief that was finally coursing its way through my veins.

It was time to go home.
