Truly, Madly, Deeply- A Julian De Vizio fanfic

Prologue

Age 4:

 “Dani come and have a look at what I found in the grass!” Julian yelled from the backyard.

“I’m coming!!” Dani yelled back from inside the house. From the excitement in Julian’s voice, she knew this was going to be amazing.

“Dani quick! Its moving!” Julian was overwhelmed with excitement. This was the first lady bug he had seen in real life.

“Julian, what is it?” Dani was intrigued. She had never seen this type of insect before.

“It’s a ladybug,” he smiled.

“It’s so pretty!” she was amazed.

Julian looked at Dani, interested in her reaction to the ladybug, “You’re pretty too.”

“Thanks,” Dani smiled.

Age 6:

“EW! JULIAN IS PLAYING WITH DANI AND NOW HE HAS GIRL KOOTIES!” the boys at school yelled.

“SHE DOESN’T HAVE KOOTIES! SHE’S MY BEST FRIEND!” Julian yelled back, trying to defend his friend.

“It’s okay Julian, you can go and play with the boys and we can play together when we go home,” Dani tried to make this easier for him.

“No, you’re my best friend! If they don’t like it when I play with you then I don’t want to play with them!” Julian wasn’t going to let these boys ruin his friendship with the closest friend he had.

Age 10:

“Mum can I please go to Julian’s house after school today?” Dani begged her mother as she rode in the car on her way to school.

“Dani, you can’t tonight. Your cousins are coming over.” Her mum explained.

“Hey Dani! Are you coming to play today?” Julian yelled from across the parking lot at the school grounds.

“Hi Julian! I asked my mum and she said no. My cousins are coming over.” Dani explained.

“HAHA JULIAN. YOUR STUPID “BEST FRIEND” ISN’T ALLOWED TO PLAY WITH YOU AT YOUR HOUSE!” a boy yelled from inside the school grounds, making the other students laugh at Julian and Dani.

“Uh, can I come to your house instead?” Julian suggested, ignoring the bullies.

“Yeah, okay!” Dani smiled, but it was a hurt smile. Julian noticed and ran up to her, grabbing her in the tightest hug.

“It’s going to be okay,” Julian whispered in her ear, and with that, they both walked into the school grounds.

Age 13:

“Julian I’m scared...” Dani was close to crying.

“It’s okay Dani, high school will be different to primary school. It will be fun,” Julian said as he tried to convince Dani, and himself, that high school wouldn’t have those ‘mean’ kids that made fun of them.

“But what if it isn’t? What if it’s the same and the kids all make fun of us? What if it’s just me and you by ourselves again?” Dani couldn’t help but let out a few tears.

“Well then that’s all we need. As long as we always have each other then that’s all that matters, right?” He hoped she would respond with a ‘Yes’, or just a nod, so that he knew that she would never leave him.

“You’re right.” Dani said, convincing Julian that no matter what happened, they would always be friends.

Age 14:

“Dani, you haven’t kissed a boy before, have you?” Julian asked her.

“Um... no, I haven’t. Why? Have you kissed a girl yet?” Dani was hoping the answer was a ‘No’, because she knew that if he said ‘Yes’ it would hurt her.

“No I haven’t. But I want to. Can I kiss you?” Julian was straight forward with Dani. He didn’t want to make it any more awkward than he felt it was.

“Uh... yeah, okay.”

And with that, Julian kissed her, softly, on the lips. It wasn’t passionate, or intense. It was just... simple.

“Well, that was... nice,” Dani said, as Julian moved away from her slowly.

“Nicer than I thought it would be to be honest,” was all Julian could seem to reply with. Both Dani and Julian felt something. It wasn’t exactly ‘love’. It was more of a ‘lust’. They both wanted to kiss each other again, but they didn’t.

Age 16:

“I’m nervous Julian.”

“We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. I’m not forcing you into anything okay?”

“No, I do. I want to do this. I’m sick of being the only virgin out of my girl friends. But I don’t want to lose it to a random guy who won’t even remember me in a couple of years. I want to lose it to someone who I know won’t forget me. Someone who I won’t necessarily marry, but will definitely be friends with forever, and I know that you’ll be that someone.”

“Dani, you’re so special. I hope you know that. No-one could ever forget you. I definitely won’t. You’ll be my first, and who knows? Maybe you’ll be my last too. But what happens after this is over? After we do it? Do we stay friends, or do we start a relationship?” Julian was confused. He definitely loved Dani, but he wasn’t sure if he was in love with her yet.

“I guess we’ll just see how it goes when it’s over?” Dani loved him. In fact, she was in love with him. He was her best friend, and even though he might not be in love with her, she knew she was doing the right thing by losing her virginity to someone who she cared for, and who cared for her.
