Dani’s phone lit up with a message from Julian. It read:

Hey hey, guess who says hi?

Attached to the message was a photo. Dani opened the photo and screamed in excitement. She threw her phone across the room before running to pick it up again. She called Julian, having no patience for him to answer his phone.

“Hello?” Julian answered

“OH MY GOD! WHAT THE HELL? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ARE YOU SERIOUSLY KIDDING ME? DID YOU JUST MEET ONE FUCKING DIRECTION?” She yelled into the phone.

“Oh, so you got my message then?” he cockily asked.

“Did I get your message? DID I GET YOUR MESSAGE? YES I GOT YOUR MESSAGE OH MY GOD. THAT IS INSAAAAAANE!” She was too excited to hold it in. Her best friend just met One Direction, the biggest boy band in the world.

Julian was laughing on the other end of the phone before he spoke again, “I have a surprise for you.”

“As if that wasn’t a big enough surprise? What could possibly top meeting One Direction?” She asked him, before an all too familiar voice, one that she could spot from anywhere even though she had only heard it in interviews, spoke back to her on the phone.

“Hello? Is this Dani?”

“Oh. My. God. No fucking way! Zayn Malik? Shiiiiiiiiit! Hi, oh wow! I love you man, ahhh I can’t believe this! I have only dreamed of this day oh my god. Wow, I sound like a complete lunatic. What the hell is wrong with me? I am so sorry. How are you? Wow!” Dani found it extremely hard to hold in her excitement as she rambled on.

Zayn laughed on the other end of the phone, “That would have to be one of the funniest reactions I’ve ever received over the phone,” he said to her, “but I'm really good thanks. Your boyfriend Julian is a pretty nice guy. Well I’m assuming he’s your boyfriend anyway.”

Before Dani could answer his question she heard Julian whisper, unintentionally loud enough for her to hear it, in the background, “Nah mate, I wish. She isn’t my girlfriend. She’s only my best friend.”

“Oh woops. Well then this is slightly awkward. Um, sorry about that Dani, are you still there? Did you hear that? He wishes. Well I have to go, but I'm glad I could try and get your friend some help getting out of the friend zone. Bye!” Zayn had just made the whole situation awkward.

“Uh, what? You’re going? Oh. Okay well bye!! Oh my god and thank you so much for talking to me. I love you, wow. BYE!” Dani was shocked. Even though she had just spoken to her favourite celebrity in the whole existence of the universe, she couldn’t help but replay those two words in her head, I wish. Wish for what? Did he really want her to be his?

“Uh Dani? Still alive?” Julian interrupted her thoughts.

“Yeah, yeah I'm here. Wow!” was all she could say.

“Well, that phone call didn't go as I expected... but anyway, I have to go so I’ll talk to you later.” Julian tried to hurry this conversation up. There was no way he was going to explain what just happened in front of all these people, right at that moment.

“What? Already? Okay. Um... Thank you so much!! Wow, I can’t believe I just spoke to Zayn Malik. I love you!! Bye!” she managed to say before they both hung up the phone, eager to end this ridiculous awkwardness that had formed in a matter of minutes.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Julian had only called Dani once in the few days that passed after what happened with Zayn. He was scared to confront the situation, and knew that if he called her, she would ask him to explain what happened. The boys had made it into Ronan’s final three groups and were now going to the live shows. This was the only reason he called Dani but the conversation was kept short because he was too frightened about what that conversation could turn into. He tossed and turned at the different possible outcomes that could occur from this situation but only thought of the bad ones. What if she makes him step back a little and keep distance between them? What if she didn't feel that way about him? How would it work out now that The Collective are through to the live shows and suddenly he has to be away from her for as long as they’re in the competition? Thinking over the situation, Julian decided that maybe he did need to keep some sort of distance away from his best friend. Even though it would kill them both, he knew that nothing was going to happen between them just yet, and so he needed to try and get over Dani.

Sorry that this chapter is so short but this is the turning point of the story now so I couldn't really make it longer. The next few chapters make me want to cry because Dalian (yes I have given them a name) are going to hit tough times (aka so much heart break and tears). Please let me know what you think of this chapter :) xx
