Chapter 15

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIAAAAAAAAN!” the boys yelled as they ran into Julian’s room and jumped on his bed.

“OUCH!” Julian yelled as he adjusted his sheets.

“OW! What the fuck?” Dani had woken up too, thankful that she put Julian’s t-shirt back on last night when she woke up to go to the toilet.

“Woops!” Zach was the first one to realise that Dani was in Julian’s bed because he had jumped on her accidentally.

“Looks like someone had a good night last night then...” Will winked and gave them both a smirk.

Dani and Julian were now both wide awake and laughed, knowing their night was more than just a ‘good night’.  

“So tell us, how was it? Nice and slow? Fast and heavy?” Trent joked as he got off Julian’s bed and walked over to Jayden’s.

Julian looked at Dani and smiled. Thinking again about the night before, and the beauty he had seen in the girl he’d known his whole life, yet hardly knew at all. He loved his girlfriend Dani. Yes, he also loved his best friend Dani, but it was a different love. He didn't think that he could fall so much more in love with someone that he was already so in love with. “Let’s just say that Jayden had the right idea by sleeping in your room and we’ll leave it at that.”

“Nice job! And that’s something I can thank myself for,” Jayden got off the bed and walked over to his, where he found Dani’s bra and picked it up, “but next time, could you please keep it on your bed... or at least clean up after yourself?”

“Oh shit, sorry Jayden!” Dani laughed and asked him to throw it to her.

Julian caught it and began to examine it. “This is a cute bra babe,” he said as he looked back at her and smiled.

“Thanks! If it fits you then you can have it,” she winked at him and the rest of the boys laughed. Dani looked at Julian and put her finger under his chin, moving his face so that it was facing her. “Hey, babe?”

His eyes met hers and suddenly it felt like everyone in the room, but Julian and Dani, had disappeared, “Yeah?”

“Happy Birthday,” she almost whispered as she smiled and gave him a kiss. She could feel him smiling as he kissed her back, and she moved her hand from his chin so that her arms were now both wrapped around his neck. He placed his arms around her waist, just about hugging her, and almost lifted her off the bed when they were interrupted by the sound of the boys clearing their throats.

“We really need to stop doing that,” Dani stated after they pulled apart, before adjusting her seating on the bed.

“It’s alright, we get it. We have to go and change anyway so we’ll leave you guys to it,” Zach winked as he ushered the other boys out of the room.

“Oh, and Jules, don’t forget that we leave for Sydney in two days so start packing your things soon,” Will yelled from the corridor.

Dani’s face dropped from the big smile that she was sporting before and Julian knew why. Last time he left Adelaide, it didn't work out so well. He knew that she was scared of what could happen to their relationship but he was sure that it wouldn’t suffer. He loved her more than he ever did and now that she was his, Julian wasn’t going to let her slip away. “Babe, it’s okay. You’ll come and visit me while I'm in Sydney doing the live shows. We’ll still see each other.”

“Yeah I know. I’m just- never mind. It’s not important.” Dani didn't want to admit to Julian that she was scared of losing him to someone who was prettier, funnier, and smarter than she was. She always felt like she wasn’t good enough for him and now that he was going to Sydney, that temptation for him was greater.

“It is important Dani. You’re scared, I know it. But trust me when I say that I love you more than I could love anyone. I’ve waited to call you mine for way too long to just let what we have slip away. You’re everything to me, do you understand?” Julian couldn’t let her think otherwise. She was his life, and though they would be in completely different states, nothing was going to change that.

“Yep, I understand Jules. I know you love me, you showed me how much last night, and I love you too, so so much. But I guess I'm just scared that-“ Dani chocked on her tears. It was hard for her to admit it. She didn't want to sound like she didn't trust him, because he was the only person she could ever trust with her life. Dani just felt insecure. She felt like there was always better than her, “I’m scared that someone else will come along and she’ll just sweep you off your feet. She’ll lure you in with her beauty and her humour and then you’ll fall for her and forget about me.”

Tears formed in Julian’s eyes. He hated seeing her so insecure, so broken. “Dani, you need to listen to me now, and listen good,” he needed to tell her that everything was okay, that she was the only thing that mattered to him. “I love you. Only you. I could never fall for anyone as much as, or even remotely close to as hard as I have for you. To me, you’re the most beautiful thing in this world. You’re the only one who knows how to make me laugh and make me cry. You are the reason that I’m here. We’re made for each other. There’s no one that could ever compare to you, okay?” he hugged her as she cried. There was no doubt that he meant every word he said.

“Julian, I’m sorry.” She spat out between her cries. “I’m sorry that you have to keep telling me that. You’re so perfect. You deserve better, so much better. What I did to deserve you is beyond anything I could ever comprehend. I’m sorry if I ever doubted you, or ever doubt you in the future. You don’t deserve that at all.”

Julian was cradling her now. He didn't know how long she was holding all of this in, but now Dani had to let it all out and he was there to catch her as she fell. “Baby, stop it. We deserve each other. It’s what we’re here for. You need me, and I need you. Okay? I NEED you. I love you Dani.”

“I love you,” she managed to get out as someone knocked on the door.

“JULIAN, DANI, HURRY UP!” Jayden yelled from the other side of the door.

“Come on babe, let’s get ready. It’s my birthday remember? We’re going to have fun today, okay?” Julian tried to cheer her up, even though he knew that she wouldn’t be the same for the next few days.

Dani smiled at him, and even though it was a fake smile, Julian took it. “Okay babe, let’s go have some fun.”
