CHAPTER 4

“Julian, hurry up and come downstairs and eat before you leave!” Dani yelled from the bottom of the steps at Julian’s house. He was leaving that day for boot camp and was already running late.

“Dani, can you come up here please?” Julian yelled back. He sounded nervous. Dani ran up the stairs and knocked on his bedroom door.

“Come in man, since when do you knock anyway?” Julian was sitting on his bed with his bag on the floor next to his feet.

“What’s wrong? What are you doing? Come downstairs! We have to leave in 20 minutes or you’ll miss your flight.” Dani always rushed him. If it wasn’t for her, Julian would be late to everything.

“Wait, I need to ask you something,” he sounded troubled, “but I don’t really know how to.”

“You can’t ask me in the car?” Dani was getting a little frustrated with Julian. As much as she loved him and he was her best friend, he really knew how to get on her nerves sometimes.

Julian thought about it, but knew that if he didn't ask her now then he never would. “No, I have to ask you now.”

“Okay, what is it?”

“You know the other day, when you started crying while we were packing?” Julian was scared and it was noticeable in his voice.

Dani suddenly felt vulnerable and nervous. She hoped that he didn't make her explain it, otherwise she would just cry again, “Uhh...yes.”

“And I hugged you for a really long time and didn't let go?”

“Yeah...”

“And then last night when we were watching the movie and we were hugging and I was holding your hand?”

“Yeeeeeah... is this going anywhere Jules?” She was thinking about what he could say. Maybe something like ‘It’s because I love you and never want to let you go’ or ‘Well don’t take it the wrong way because I don’t love you like you love me’.

Julian hesitated a little, “Well, I-“

“JULIAN! DANI! HURRY UP OR WE’RE GOING TO BE LATE” Julian’s mum yelled from downstairs. Julian was now pissed off because he couldn’t go through with it anymore. He couldn’t tell Dani that he was in love with her and that he wouldn’t let go of her because he didn't want to let go of her.

“Ugh, never mind,” he said before picking up his bag and walking out the door, “are you coming?”

“Um, yeah. Yeah, I'm coming,” Dani was confused. She needed to know what he was going to say before he left for boot camp or she knew he would never say it. The only trouble was that there were no other opportunities for this conversation to occur before he left.

Sorry this is so short but initially it was really long and I had to split it into two chapters. I'll upload my next chapter later tonight to make up for it ;)
