I looked at you expectantly
You looked back with a blatant smile
Not understanding the look in my eyes
You pulled me in, and hugged me tight
You picked me up
And swirled me 'round
Not understanding what I was going through
Not realizing the tears I withdrew
Placing me back on my feet
Putting your hand under my chin
Your eyes stared right in mine
But you mistook the sadness to be the smile
That hand was stretched,
And an answer he awaited
You said I looked beautiful
Under the moonlight, in that gown I was in, swathed
Would you be mine, forever?
He asked again
Choking back my tears, I smiled
Turning around, I looked at you one last time
You nodded your head
Telling me to say yes
What did you know
You were the one I wanted here instead
The best friend, the best man
You were all I'd ever wanted
Why couldn't you be the one standing there
Did you never realize how much I cared?
