On the way to the shore no one said a word. Bill manned the boat and Kane sat in a chair nearby Bill. They only gave a blanket to let me dry up and warm up. Shortly afterwards Kane fell asleep on the chair. I watched as his drool slowly dripped from his mouth to the deck. After I got tired of watching Kane's disgusting drool (it just kept coming), I turned around toward the open sea.

We have been in the water for a long time so I guessed that we were actually in an ocean. The ocean was calm and the fog was clearing up. As the fog lifted over the ocean so did the fog over my brain. I started to remember what this place was. I was on Earth, I started to think that was kind of obvious. The ocean I was in was the Pacific, just off the coast of Oregon. Renville was a new town starting up just off the shore and it was welcome to newcomers.

Soon enough Bill spoke up, "We're nearin' the shore. Really Kane ya had ta fall asleep." As Bill said that Kane's eyes opened wide.

"Get the beastie out of the water!" he yelled. I got startled and almost fell off the edge of my chair and into the water.

"Ya know Kane, ya don't have ta scream every time ya wake up. You almost made Cosmo jump back into the water!"

"Ah shut it Bill," said Kane irritated. "You'd be screamin' too if ya had nightmares like mine."

"Ya should really see a psychologist," retorted Bill.

"I don't like 'em. Don't like their attitudes like they actually care what dreams I've been havin'."

"Well then, anyway we're at the shore." Bill slowly steered the boat into the docks. After we all got off and Kane tied the boat to the docks. Bill gave me $30 dollars.

"There, that should be enough for one night at the hotel," said Bill as he pointed at a building two blocks away from the docks. "You should also have enough for a rental car after th' night. Well goodbye Cosmo."

I wondered why Bill told me to get a car. Then I remembered that I could drive. I don't remember how or when I was taught, but I did know how to drive a car. I watched and waved to Kane and Bill as they drove away in their car.

I walked to the hotel. Above the doors to the hotel was a sign that read 'Renville Inn'. I walked inside and was instantly greeted by a happy-looking lady. "Hello there sir," she said. She was an energetic young women about 25 years old. She had long red hair tied into a bun. She stood behind a desk in the somewhat empty room. There were only a couple chairs by the door and a table between the chairs. There were also a few plants scattered around the room. Behind the woman was a large array of hooks with keys on them.

I walked to the desk. "I would like a room please."

"Here you go sir," she said as she handed me some keys. I gave her $20 for the room.

"Um thanks," I looked at her name tag which was pinned to her red polo, "Agnes."

"You're welcome have a nice day." Agnes said back to me. I wasn't sure I liked her too much. She was just too energetic and it weirded me out. I went to my room.

I went through a long hallway with doors on either side. Above the doors a number was pinned to the wall. I was looking for a number 13. About 6 doors down the hall on my right side I found my room. I opened the door with my keys. Inside there were two queen-sized beds against the left wall. To the right there was a mini-kitchen and a door leading to the bathroom. On the bathroom door was a large mirror.

I looked at the mirror and my reflection stared back at me. I had short brown hair. I was starting to get little hairs on my chin which meant I was about 17 to 20 years old. I quickly looked through the pockets in my pants again only this time I found a wallet in my right back pocket. Inside there was a driver's license and a couple hundred dollar bills. I wasn't interested in the money because it was all soggy, but at least everything else started to dry up. I only had a couple wet spots still on me. I looked at the driver's license. It was pretty new and it confirmed my age. I was 17.

I looked into the mirror again. I had a watch on my left wrist. I also had a necklace around my neck. I was surprised I haven't noticed these before. The watch was an analog and the necklace was in a shape of some symbol. Then something jogged my memory. The necklace was in the shape of an hourglass. I didn't pay much attention to that though, what was interesting to me were my eyes. The colors were swirling and changing between an Emerald green and a Sapphire color. It was very odd. I stared a bit longer and the colors stopped changing and went to a solid emerald color.

'That's odd, why are my eyes like that,' I wondered, but not for long because I got really tired for some reason. So I chose a bed and jumped straight in it and closed my eyes, but they weren't closed for long.

I soon heard really loud music being played from next door. I instantly got up. Furious I went out my door and went over to my obnoxious neighbor's door and knocked hard five times so that he could hear me.

The guy who opened the door had bloodshot eyes and had a weird smile on. The man had messy black hair messy clothes on. His clothes were covered in stains and other things. To me the guy looked high. Not even thinking about why I knew that the guy was high I spoke up.

"Why the heck are you playing your music so loudly!" I yelled over the music.

"Oh sorry man I just had a bad day. My girlfriend broke up with me and just found out that I failed all my college classes," said the man.

'I wonder why,' I thought to myself. "Well can you turn it down a bit?"

"Yeah ok, you look like you had a bad day yourself," he said.

"Yeah I was attacked by a huge water monster and almost drowned," I answered.

"Oh I would call the IPSF if I were-" he stopped mid-sentence, "actually looks like you'd be one of the things they would be after. You don't look like the rest of us. Its ok I won't call them on you, but I would stay away from the IPSF if I were you. They want to study and find anything that's not human to make sure that 'they won't harm us'. I don't believe that bs though. Well it was a nice talk. I'll turn my music down, you can sleep, and I'll just cry in a corner of my room," he sniffled.

"My name is Jack by the way. I hope I never see you again."

"Wait, why is th-," I couldn't finish my sentence because Jack slammed the door in my face. 'Rude' I thought to myself. I walked over to my room and went to bed. As I was falling asleep I heard a knock on the door.

"Ugh," I groaned and got up to open the door. I opened up the door and standing in the doorway were two officers with black glasses and caps with the initials "IPSF" on them.
