Chapter XXIII

"Now what do we do," I asked Charlie.

"Well, it's about time I tell you what's going on," said Charlie looking back at me.

"Yeah. What is going on, Charlie? What exactly is a creator," asked Isaac with a puzzled look on his face. Charlie got us onto the ground of the burnt down forest.

"Ok, so," Charlie started, "there is a thing called the darkness."

"What is it?" I asked.

"Cosmo I haven't even started and you are already asking questions," Charlie said annoyed. "Don't say anything until I'm done talking.

"Anyway, the darkness is, well, dark. It has plagued the universes and it has destroyed many things. I actually don't know why I'm telling you this because once we get to the next universe you'll forget anyway. Basically we have to build power enough to fight the darkness, and we weren't powerful enough to defeat it before we got into this mess because we were weakened by the war before it, and we created the darkness. That's the short version. I hope you're happy with it."

As Charlie finished talking I was about to ask a ton of questions. As I took a breath to start my spiel, I was stopped by Ivel's hand.

"Yes we're happy with it, and Cosmo isn't going to ask any questions because it's stupid to do so," said Ivel as he stared coldly at me.

"But," I started.

"No, shut up. No one wants to ask questions but you, so no talking," said Ivel. Again he stared at me.

"Fine," I said as I turned to look around.

"Well, where do we go now," asked Isaac.

"I suggest that we start hiding from the IPSF," said Charlie.

"That or find a way out of this universe, right," said Ivel completely understanding what Charlie explained to us. I still had questions. I still had no idea what was going on or what I had to do.

"Yeah, we could do that," said Charlie.

"Where do we start looking," asked Isaac.

"I have no clue," said Charlie.

"What," I exclaimed. "You answered his question!"

Ivel and Charlie stared at me.

"Ok, jeez," I mumbled.

"We could start going toward the next town," said Charlie.

"Yeah, I guess we could," said Ivel looking around.

"Where is the next town," asked Isaac. I was still bitter at the fact that Isaac could ask questions.

"I have no clue," said Charlie. He looked at where the cliff was at the edge of the burnt forest. Then he started to walk in the opposite direction. Ivel, Isaac and I followed.
