Chapter X

Charlie walked away from the camp to go on his midnight hunt. The forest is vast and is contained in a valley surrounded by massive cliffs, the perfect place to hide a camp of "criminals". The people, or rather, beings here aren't actual criminals, they were actually EXTs or extraterrestrial terrorists, which isn't as bad as it seems. Really the name came from a band of alien terrorists back in 2005 which affected the government's view on all non-humans, heck they even think cows are suspicious nowadays.

Charlie had other things on his mind though, he needed to catch enough food for a camp of 33 aliens. The aliens all eat different things and different amounts so food isn't easy to gather, luckily there are many animals that fit the appetite of every EXT in the camp. There are plenty of deer, cows, moose (meese, mooses, whatever) and mammoths, yes mammoths, in Oregon. The mammoths are not as big as big as the extinct ones and they live in huge underground caves.

Charlie was the best candidate for hunting, even if he didn't look the part. He didn't have a hard to pronounce name to tell him you were hungry and he was the most powerful of the EXTs. He had the power to manipulate energy into beams, swords, shots, anything as long as it had an energetic charge. This made hunting very easy, though carrying mammoths was still a pain, especially if one of the others in the herd saw you. Mammoths run really fast.

Charlie went through his normal hunting routine. Stalking, flushing, then killing. He did this by using bow made out of metal and an energy string with his own energy arrows. The bow he got off a technician from the planet technactis. After a while of hunting Charlie spotted a lone mammoth. Charlie slowly started walking toward the mammoth. Charlie kept walking until he was in range, but he didn't even get to draw his bow when the mammoth ran off startled by a car that fell off the cliff above. The car landed with a loud crash followed by a boom, which startled the birds. Charlie watched as the car started to burn and quickly put up an energy shield around the fire so that it wouldn't spread. With the shield he created a vacuum to make the fire stop burning. Afterwards he slowly approached the car.

The ground around the car was flattened and burnt. The car itself layer upside down and was heavily dented. Through the wreckage and the darkness, Charlie saw two silhouettes in the front seats and he quickly ran up to the car to save the figures, if they even were alive. Charlie used his power to lift the car from the ground and to unbend some of the dents.

Charlie ripped the driver's door from its hinges and quickly grabbed the two bodies out of the car before the car went back to its wrecked state. This was the only downside to his power, the things he did with it didn't last more than one minute if it was left alone.

The bodies were of two human young adult males. Charlie didn't want to take them back to camp but he finally decided he would only because he couldn't leave these guys out here. For all he knew they could be EXTs, so Charlie turned toward the camp dragging the humans behind him.
