BELLA

The last thing i remembered was a man in the car with Veronica who covered my nose with a white cloth. I tried to struggle, to hold my breath because i knew what was coming next, but like air slipping out of my nostrils, I felt my consciousness leave me.

I didn't know how long I was out but as I slowly began to regain consciousness, I felt long fingers dig into my cheek and let go off me quickly. Muffled voices filled the room and I could only make out a few words.

"I'm not...", a feminine voice said, "you have to fix...

...she's going to ruin everything!"

It didn't sound like Veronica; it was someone different and she spoke with so much anger yet authority.

I slipped back into deep sleep.

As i slept, i had the dream again.

There was Wade, at the beach where I saw him the last time, in brown shorts and a blue shirt. He smiled at me, his hazel eyes lighting up, the way they always did when he saw me. Then he turned to stare at the sunset and I tugged his arm. I wanted to tell him that I was in danger, that he had to come find me but he didn't turn to look at me again.

I let out a deep breath. I was awake, the sounds and voices were clearer. I heard water dripping, at a distance away from me. There was a force around my eyes, and I knew I'd been blindfolded. We were in a large, almost empty room. This is knew, because their voices bounced and echoed off the walls when they spoke- Veronica and the female.

"I wasn't planning on taking any civilians hostage and you know it", the voice I'd heard before spoke gently.

"You said you needed my help and I gave it to you", Veronica said harshly, "all I asked for was a chance to have the both of them in the same room. Besides, it's your fault he's not here"

"If you had told us ahead of time that he would be there in disguise..."

"I called you!", Veronica yelled, "you ignored my call as usual"

"Are you going to let her speak to me like that?", the feminine voice asked.

I realized there was a third person in the room. I could hear them breathing slowly followed be a mocking scoff. Then came a scratching sound on the metal walls.

"You both made mistakes", came the third voice- a man. He spoke as though he was singing in a slow tone and then there was a giggle. I couldn't tell if it came from one of the women or him.

"Now's the time to fix them", he said, "our little friend is awake"

I heard footsteps coming towards me and then hands on my face. The blindfold came off first. My eyes adjusted to the white light in the room and then a face came in view- a friendly face. He cheeks rose into a smile, revealing a set of pearly white teeth and one gold tooth but his most distinctive feature was his eyes. They were grey like heavy clouds filled with rain.

"Hello Bella", he said.

I looked away from him, to the side of the room. Veronica stood, staring at her feet.

The room was larger than I thought with what looked to be steel walls and a bulb above. There was nothing else in it as far as i could see besides the chair i sat on. I looked back at the face of the man.

"Where am I?", I asked in between nervous breaths.

"I'm afraid I can't tell you that", he stood upright swiftly, glancing at his watch.

I tried to move my hands but my wrists only hurt. I was tied up. There was movement next to me and I turned with a low gasp. A woman stood not far away from me. She was beautiful, like one of those women you only saw in magazines with bright red lipstick and long, flowing dark hair. She was dressed formally like she was going for a conference meeting. I thought about work, Aaron and Micah.
