BELLA

I could hear their footsteps from my sleep, multiple fast approaching footsteps and for some reason, I thought it was part of the dream. They sounded like beating drums somewhere in the distance but I couldn't focus on them. How could I focus on anything else when he was right next to me?

I had hoped the dreams would stop, but with the situation I was in, I relied on those dreams to at least keep some part of my sanity intact. I could see him clearer now, thin strands of his dark hair swaying in the wind, a satisfied smile on his face. Then he turned to stare at me, his hazel eyes glistened in the sunlight- they were a dark shade of green. The smile on his face spread wider, into a grin and he stretched his hand out to me.

The drumming got louder and I could tell he was about to leave. I didn't want him to go yet. Having him next to me made things seem perfect. If I woke up, I'd had to go back to the harsh reality I was facing. I would have to feel the hunger that was eating me up from my insides and the thirst that made me my throat and mouth dry.

The door bust open and the sound made me open my eyes with a loud gasp. Three masked men burst into the room. I watched as one of them went around the chair I was sitting on and he began to cut the rope. I blinked first and glanced around. I could count five of them now that my vision was clear.

"What's going on?", I asked.

No one replied. The ropes around my hands fell off and my limbs ached as I moved them. I rubbed my sore wrists slowly. The man behind me moved to my front and I watched as he crouched in front of me and cut the ropes around my feet as well. He stood and another one of them grabbed me by the arm, pulling me up to my feet. My ankles ached as I stood and I felt dizzy. Another hand grabbed my other arm and I was pulled towards the door. A third man opened it.

"What's happening?", I asked again, "I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what's happening"

"Stop resisting!", the man next to the door said angrily. He rose his hands to hit me and I flinched.

"Don't hit her", a voice said. I looked up. Veronica stood in the doorway; one hand placed on her waist. She smiled, "she's my prisoner. I'm the only one who can hit her"

The man lowered his hand and Veronica walked towards me, a sly smirk on her face. She rose her hand and it cracked across my face. My cheek stung and my eyes watered but I didn't want to give her the satisfaction of seeing me cry. I blinked the tears away and glared at her.

"What's going on Veronica?", I tried my best not to make my voice shake, "are you suddenly tired of seeing me alive? Are your men taking me somewhere to finally kill me?"

She crossed her arms and chuckled, "if anyone is going to kill you", she said, "it's me Bella"

"So where are you taking me?"

"I don't owe you any explanation", she said, "but I'll tell you anyway", she added, "Wade is coming to get you and Luke doesn't want you here when he comes"

My heart skipped a beat. He was coming. He was finally coming. Tamal must have been able to get through to him but how did Veronica find out?

"If Wade is coming here to get me like you say", I said, "then why am I being moved?"

She frowned, "I don't owe you an explanation Bella", she turned to one of the men, "put a blindfold on her and a gag in her mouth so I don't have to listen to her annoying voice"

He muttered a "okay ma'am"

"Do it quickly!"

Veronica smirked at me as a cloth came over my eyes, it was tightened at the back of my head and then another was shoved into my mouth. I coughed, nearly choking on it but they didn't seem to care as they tied another one around my lips to really make sure I won't make a sound. My dry tongue lay below the cloth in my mouth. I was beginning to feel like my taste buds- if they were living tiny creatures running around on my tongue- were dead because I wasn't able to taste much these days.
